ANIMAL HARVEST

I may be biased but I don’t know a single Switch owner who doesn’t at least pay for the most basic plan, since it’s so cheap.

i don’t, I had it for a year and barely used it. locking offline features behind an online paywall sucks regardless

the nintendo coporation did not consider the implications of this line lol

Apparently the latest patch unlocks 1080p handheld on Switch 2 even if you don’t buy the Switch 2 upgrade.

having a constant churn of random animals walking around the place is good and makes the place feel more alive, the game should have shipped with the tourists and half of these features from the jump although it really does double down on how there really are only 8 personality templates and the game really does not have that much writing in it for a game with a lot of writing in it

This shows a lot when you compare script lengths in the series. New Leaf by far has so much more text.

I haven’t played Animal Crossing in 5 years, can someone tell me what this HUD indicator is for?

I don’t think I got that far even when I did play, considering none of the update content is unlocking for me yet

I think that was how much food you’ve eaten? And to reduce it you go to the toilet

Whoa what??? What benefit or negative is there from eating food? I did eat a ramen that was on sale at my friend’s island but never made the connection

So apparently when you eat food, it lets you smash rocks and pick up trees with your shovel as many times as the number says. So I guess if you don’t want to accidentally destroy rocks, you need to go poop

LOL incredible, here I am still playing the game like it’s the GameCube and meanwhile they’ve added empowered eating and pooping

sorry the poop meter realization is too funny i want it in the animal crossing therad instead of the switch megathread so i can laugh at it later

my wife has learned the hard way that there are 3 different System Transfer options for moving to different Switch consoles, and only one of them moves nearly all the cloud data and the other two are for two very specific games, Animal Crossing included, so let this serve as a friendly reminder and an unfriendly Fuck Off to Nintendo to add to their pile

we now have a switch 2 (which we did a system transfer to) and our old normal switch, and we just figured out that if we open animal crossing on the old switch, we can start a new island. so we did that.

we’re having a lot of fun with it. at the same time, people have been mentioning the strong “2020 vibes” and hearing animal crossing music in the house all the time only makes that deeper.

my wife was looking up some info about the fish and was really disappointed to learn that the animal crossing games tend to mostly have the same fish and bugs from installment to installment. she is now 50%+ less excited for any future animal crossing game.

speaking of, i’d thought we might get an announcement of a new ac game in the near future, but the 3.0 update makes me think that’s less than likely.

still wild to me how little new stuff there is for switch 2.

Oh I didn’t know we had an AC thread so this works out!

I’ve been trying to play in real time but it sucks because my store has been closed for two days so I can’t sell shit, and that made me wish there was a game as cute as Animal Crossing but it wasn’t locked to real time and was more about farming/fishing/economy grinding.

Then I remembered I have the new Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma game and stopped playing it because there’s so many things to do in it that I would zone out and lose all sense of time. So I fired it up at night after doing all my AC chores, thinking I’d just play an hour before going to bed but before I knew it, it was sunrise and I somehow pulled an all nighter playing Rune Factory goddammmmit

Anyway, Animal Crossing is so cute, no other game really compares in terms of aesthetics.

This was literally the only reason I stopped playing for five years lol

I finally learned about the proper system transfer tool app a few days ago when my friends started playing again and found the right Switch that had my original save data

Has anyone figured out how to do the multiplayer dream island thing yet? I can get it to copy my island online but can’t make a new one like in the trailer

When you lay in a bed, select “It’s slumber time.” instead of “I want to dream.”

Very confusing and unintuitive.

Oh, that option hasn’t shown up for me yet. Then again, I can’t access most of the features all the trailers have shown so far. Wish they explained the minimum you’ve needed to play to unlock any of it :////

Check to make sure you’re on the 3.0 update. On the main Switch menu select Animal Crossing, press +, select “Software Update” and select “Via the Internet”.

If the issue is that you’ve made a very fresh start then most features should unlock after you’ve built all the shops and you paid off your first debt to get a house and stuff.

EDIT: Slumber Islands are only available for paid subscribers you Nintendo Switch Online. Make sure you have that.
