Yeah I tried to give blue bear Kody a basic bed to replace his sleeping bag, but now he just has both of them displayed.
Speaking of the blue bear, I taught him to say ‘innit’ as his catchphrase instead of Grah Grah, and he’s gone and taught it to all the other animals including posh old lady monkey Elise
Just got an Iguanadon Tail - send me a Dodo Code at some point and I’ll drop it off.
Whoa! Might be a few days til I have time, but I’ll let ya know.
I finally found scorpion island. Somehow these pinchy pros seem a LOT harder to catch than tarantulas, and it turns out my “dig a series of holes as a protective barrier” strategy has several flaws. I’m getting knocked out about 5 times as often as I make a catch.
EDIT: It turns out that I’d avoided playing at late night so long that I forgot my tarantula method, which works just as well for scorpions. It’s going to be a profitable evening.
Taking its place among the Pikmin 2 save room and Silent Hill ambient drones in my “at work” looping music pantheon
no meteor shower but i got celeste if you want the gemini closet recipe
EDIT: all closed thanks!
Your island was amazing and my jaw is still hanging open from seeing how you built scenery from stalls and custom tiles/screens. I want to get my own place straightened out but am beginning to understand what “decision paralysis” is and just end up with my character staring at the phone.
Someone recreated the men’s room from Kawasaki Warehouse (RIP) in Animal Crossing:
Cool.
I happened to have my gates open for a while today, and James Harvey decided to pop over unexpectedly. We had a good chat! Kind of a shame that voice chat is so awkward, but it wouldn’t be a 21st-century Nintendo console without an inexplicably missing feature.
I feel like I’m right on the cusp of getting 5 stars, but I’m leery about over-committing to island features when we’re likely about to have another game update for June/July content.
Tried to copy a Merzbow album cover without pixel art skill but it predictably didn’t turn out too well and now it’s contaminating my villagers
Almost as if recognizing this but not wanting to say so and hurt my feelings, she immediately changed out after that line
TELL HIM TO EMAIL ME
there’s a bunch of tricks out there to manipulating how the aliasing is rendered in ACNH, I’ll try and dig them up again because it’s interesting and helpful esp with reproducing specific designs like this
I’ve been saying it on Discord for a minute, but I think I might be done with this game for now. It’s not bad! It’s fine! But already my villagers are guilt tripping me for not saying hi to them, uh, every single day? And I’m usually running into the same items over and over again, so the sense of discovery has just about dried up.
Maybe when I get back to it, I can accomplish my dream of doing a cool zen rock garden. Until then, I have accomplished two immature sight gags instead.
That first image would’ve been funnier if I had him waiting by a toilet out in the middle of nowhere, but I didn’t feel like hauling mine out of the house. Also, the game won’t let you name your outfit “Turd Burglar.” C’mon Nintendo.
my villagers only want to talk about the bells i bury
Mine won’t shut up about all the fossils I keep digging up and I keep going “Jeez Louise, these mothers are repetitive” before remembering that yes that really is almost all I do every day and they’re just trying to make conversation about the one thing they ever see me doing.
I think you can get a bit more variety out of dialogue by just waiting for villagers to have thought bubbles (at least they would have a gift for you, ask you to change a nickname or catchphrase rather than the usual context-sensitive or event comments) or butt into conversations, but these have been pretty rare for me. It seems like they are more repetitive than GCN and New Leaf but I don’t remember much of New Leaf outside of beetle farming and being done after the city fully opened up. Also it doesn’t help that I have like 5 laid-back/uchi villagers.
nice to read some of these thoughts, as i think i’m also sort of nearing a state of “being done” with the game, too. my island is 4 stars and i like most of my villagers and it looks about as good as i’m capable of making it based on what i have available to me, imo.
i’ll probably log on to do some relaxing chores and say hi to my animal friends, but i think i’ve hit my own goals, for now.
