I’ve also been feeling this way, haven’t actually logged on in about two weeks. I always fall off of these games relatively quickly. Something about this one feels like there’s less to keep you going than before.
It is unfortunate that villagers seem to say the same lines over and over again, and I also find it annoying that all villagers of the same type seem to basically be just a reskin of each other with the same dialogue.
I guess I’ve run out of compelling long-term goals, and the moment-to-moment experience isn’t interesting or varied enough to keep me going.
The animals are said to have a lot more conversational depth than you might expect, but for some reason they’re always set up to provide contextual comments first–so after an initial comment about digging up fossils or whatever, you can talk to them two or three more times to allow the discussion to wander a bit further afield. I haven’t had much opportunity to test this after hearing about it, but I feel like it can’t change the fact that there’s still only 8 personality types, so if you double up on certain types, it’s really gonna stick out. There’s only room on my island for one dude who chats with the bugs in his floor.
animal crossing is afraid of its destinal truth, committing itself to actually becoming an updateable unproductivity suite app; instead perpetual reinvention as worlds most luxuriant demo for imagined real game
Thanks for coming by and hanging out! The next person to find the hidden treasure is going to have to make do with a much less exciting reward, I think.
Speaking of, I’ve been finding mysterious wrapped gifts behinds various villagers’ houses! I suspect @familyjules to be the vigilante secret santa here…
I played a few hours of dragon’s dogma. It feels like the saint’s row of elder scrolls. I don’t like elder scrolls. I don’t think I’m going to keep playing dragon’s dogma.
looks like there’s a new spot at nooks cranny and some folks are getting fans/surfboards/summer stuff
i hope the dodo delivery stuff is available on nook miles islands because shipping your stuff straight to home storage is such a great quality of life thing but i would not be surprised if they nintendo’d it
Finally got all fossils and have made sort of a tourist trap out of my incoherent island mess by frankensteining together spare fossils into hybrid monstrosities like the Lospassian saber-toothed-T. rex-guanodon
