Two of my villagers (same laid-back female personality) were talking to each other so I butted in and to my surprise they involved me in deciding which gift to get for laid-back male villager. I picked “cream soda tower” and am waiting to see if this gift-giving would actually happen.

Small proud thing today special: I was about to spend all night writing up a response to the kerfuffle in the FF7R thread, but instead I just got into New Horizons and started in on a complete overhaul of my wilderness areas. I hadn’t originally been planning on relocating my rocks to a central location, but after shattering two of my favorite rocks by mistake while moving trees for my orchard, there’s no reason for me not to go ahead with that plan. My current conundrum: how do you structure a pair of cliffs such that you can hop from one to the other OR you can pass through the valley beneath them, but you CAN’T use a ladder to go up or down? I think I could do something like this, where ^ signifies upper land, w is water, and _ is lower land:

I really don’t understand Nintendo sometimes. Like, I get they want to try and make it so the economy is not Everyone Has A Billion Bells but, uh, the people making a billion bells a minute were not selling bugs.
This doesn’t impact my life in a meaningful way at all but somehow it is very, very annoying.

the trick is to really, really lean into how broken turnips are. one really fucked up trick i read was:
- set your switch so it’s a Sunday
- buy a bunch of turnips from Daisy Mae
- travel to a town that has a high turnip selling rate and sell them
- go home and buy more turnips
Basically that’s infinite money. I didn’t test it or anything but y’know, you can do that and it’s not that hard. Much easier than catching expensive bugs.

i double checked to make sure i was using the new horizons changes as opposed to the new leaf changes and checked the original painting and everything
i just have a bootleg lady with an ermine i guess
i guess all the paintings might have been fake this time around because the others were like woman with a pearl earring (with a star earring) and the virtruvian man (with a coffee stain)
i still keep thinking about how amazing this game would be if nintendo had a fucking regular online service

Seems like the ermine needs to be completely white rather than having the darker facial coloration. Personally, I had two authentic pieces (Birth of Venus & Starry Night) and two counterfeits (the fake pearl you mentioned, and some portrait I didn’t recognize and can’t remember). I was pretty sad I could only get one of the two authentic paintings.
Yours is clearly better since you have a “Sycamore Trees” mic

I finally got the terraforming ability, which is everything I’ve been waiting for and looking forward to. But now that I actually have it, I feel overwhelmed and don’t even know where to begin. The sheer possibility is crippling me.

I think the gold plating (or maybe it was fully recast in solid gold?!) signified to me that it had moved up from ceramic to gold in some kind of maneki-neko hierarchy.
