oh right, yes sorry i misread that!
this was my favorite part of visiting friends’ islands early on. just seeing what scenes they were imagining when they turned those little beach corners into cute date spots with two chairs and some picnic food, or some kind of ritual sacrifice setups using ancient looking headstones. i love the stories people make up for their islands and try to create some of my own when i’m now figuring out the logisitics for an outdoor “venue” with a rock band and a wrestling ring (with four neutral corners because i couldn’t be bothered lol) and how the layouts are better suited for running in and out of the intricately decorated paths?
i’m not gonna lie, i’m having weirdly mixed feelings about the intensity and popularity of the turnip market. everyone is obsessing over stonks now and that was like a thing i never touched and nobody i knew cared about in previous games, and i feel like i made a monkey’s paw wish after New Leaf came out that more of my friends would play Animal Crossing with me, but now everybody only visits depending on how much turnip prices are. admittedly this is the most “old man yells at cloud” gaming opinion i have right now, at least people are getting into it in some way.

Wait, I’m not even sure anymore. What are we referring to when we talk about “secret beaches”? Do we mean just random cutesy setups along the beach near the wooden pier?
Because my island actually has a small little beach area way on the back end surrounded by rocks and cliffs that is only accessible using the ladder and can easily be missed with just a cursory run-around of the island. I thought that was just a random thing, but then maybe thought everyone has that? But now I’m not sure if that’s even what’s actually being discussed.

Ah, alright, so I was correct in realizing my island isn’t special.
All I’ve done with mine is place a swinging bench to sit on with my friends and stare at the open ocean, because I’ve yet to find much interesting furniture, and it’s actually super small. I’m not even sure how much stuff I could fit there even if I wanted to. Maybe I’m just not being imaginative enough.
my ideal features for my dream animal crossing besides cooking/farming (which seem to be eventually coming based on how accurate the dataminers have been so far) would be
a procedurally generated myst/fez style arg mystery that would be different on every island
having the radio station be a physical place you can go to (maybe also a city folk style “mainland” where all the government employees and shop owners lived and were able to be interacted with like villagers)
a walkman for personal music
skateboarding/holding hands like in bully
a more detailed version of the box at resident services like a weird trash dump where you could find random items
let the villagers have friends and relatives who come to visit
you should be able to make npcs with full dialogue trees as vendors in stalls or just for decoration except they look like robots
alternately maybe the ability to create a villager by picking a personality type and an animal
port in all the clothes from the splatoon series

some kind of Pokemon-style bike or skateboard or roller blades to move quicker than running would be great, maybe to also use the construction tools to make sweet jumps
my biggest actual gripe for NH is that there’s nothing really to do when you visit someone’s island (besides the musical chairs/organically generated activities you make up yourself) so i’m hoping they bring back similar Island Tour competitive games from New Leaf, like slingshot balloon popping.

My pal’s island was absolutely nuts last night. I got 99 shooting stars according to the phone achievement list, in only about half an hour of wandering around. I only managed to find about 20 fragments today, and of those 2 were big ones and only 1 was one of the zodiac ones.
