the dev also revealed that hitting backslash in freestyle mode turns the background magenta or green, so you can chroma key your freestyle tromboning

thatâs probably at least somewhat true! people who are like, just dumb enough to have a mainstream platform but just discerning enough to surface interesting stuff actually play a valuable role
itâs one thing to be kind of annoyed because you have no idea how their brain continues to exist in this sort of liminal state of being smart and dumb at the same time, but thatâs what success looks like
I feel like you get a greater appreciation of this by liking sportscasters, because their brains are always coming up with ~admittedly unique~ coinages that no one else is smart enough in a dumb way or dumb enough in a smart way to pull off

yeah any time i read about someone getting really wealthy because of something that seemed too obvious for my mind to ever consider being a money-making vessel, a part of me dies inside and kicks myself a little. by this point, iâm mostly dead, folks.
like i guess the part of my brain that is dumb is that i didnât realize video internet was going to essentially be some kind of great reset for everything people had already known for a long time

i have no idea what to think. the whole indie publishing landscape is so⌠questionable at this point. having an influencer with a huge audience being tied up into it just makes it more questionable. i guess itâs not new though cuz game grumps was involved in making Dream Daddy - but that was a game they were involved with developing too.
desperate devs trying to get on his publisher so he can make a video about them to a large audience or whatever⌠it all feels very not great for those people. if someone has that much outsized power in a space, itâs not good. and youtubers/influencers like him definitely do.
like i said though, i think the space of indie publishing now sucks a ton in general for developers so this is just another sign of that. who knows how far this will go⌠but certainly name recognition will get you very far in that space.
