Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god
This will interfere with RE8 DLC
HE DID IT!!!
I was curious to see the level itself but didn’t find a link in that article (unless I missed it) but you can see it here (timestamped because it’s embedded in a longer thing):
Now that Gotham Knights has put out a “launch gameplay trailer” with no gameplay and a “launch cinematic trailer” with no story I’m starting to suspect this game is going to come out and will, at best, have no plot at all. It’ll just be a collection of dungeons with a cartoon villain boss at the end, and they’ll drop some colored loot.
The article gives the impression he could’ve happily kept grinding it for his entire life. Like that artist and his desert City I think it was also you who linked here
well the work videogame slack channel is sure excited about it
I need to know how long it will take other high-level mario players like lilkirbs or panga to beat this level.
i think the project is compelling in terms of performance art, but i’m not sure many other players will truly attempt to beat it. the level itself is a long series of memorized moves, with very particular and esoteric setups and extremely tight timings.
it’s sort of like if someone built a maze that you had to navigate blindfolded, and if you ever touched one of the maze’s walls you get sent back to the beginning. it’s going to be a lot of very frustrating trial and error to get anywhere in it.
sure, you could study the video of the creator solving the maze, but you’re not going to have the muscle memory and habits they built up over the course of playing and incrementally updating it. the video may give you a general strategy, but it’s still going to be a ton of trial and error to execute.
I am pretty interested in this! A long time ago I had an idea for an isometric RE game about dodging grappling enemies in tight confinement while cleverly preserving and timing the use of consumable resources through an AP system. You would chart your course through the obstacles at the beginning, or pause on the fly to recklessly change your plan, basically programming your movement and actions like that game Frozen Synapse. And this game, though not that, reminds me of the vision I had and that excites me.
Seems to be a direct straight from ps2-ass port, awesome…am hoping they’ll get to the ps2 wotses just for availability’s sake
Man I saved the steam page for this game but don’t remember the specific reason why (I generally like to have a hook of some sort). It looks like a neat point & click adventure game crossed with a murder investigation game, but…
…maybe it was because the store video starts with a close-up shot of pixel spontaneous human combustion?
Anyways looks neat enough, I at least dig all the pixel murder snapshots, plus something else I’ll likely remember at some later date~
