come to think of it Bayonetta is another game which I thought was an if anything underrated genre reimagining with some obvious flaws that the sequel unfortunately doubled down on, like new XCom and new Doom
not too hopeful for this one on that basis but that’s a minority opinion

why would they lowball her at 4000 bucks (which is not a lot at union scale) and then turn around and hire (another) union actress
I feel like something about this situation is missing
always thought Bayonetta was pretty mid tbh
i respect her thoughts and agree with her point but i do have to wonder if appealing to gamers/nintendo diehards on the grounds of capitalist exploitation will go very far

Not to excuse lowballing VAs, but some are suggesting Hellena Taylor may have been jettisoned due to personal politics. No idea if true but I think Nintendo have cut ties before with VAs for similar reasons. The whole thing’s a mess.

Nintendo doesn’t give a shit about the politics of their voice actors, they have established voices from non-union jobs they’ve done who also hold shitty positions
literally the only company who has given a shit about a voice actor talking some shit on Twitter is Capcom and that’s probably because the fans got mad that Dante’s VA was pushing nonsense
