250+ of my hours belonged to MHW this year so it’s my goty, didn’t really play anything else
Best believe I am pretty chuffed with my endgame nimble vampiretank wide gunlance population control specialist, she cannot be repelled
I will probably play new entries in this series hence so long as they’re expensively made too

2018 was when I started playing World of Warcraft again for a few months. I don’t recommend it at all though I don’t regret it either. I knew exactly when I had my fill and deleted the game and cancelled my subscription immediately.

2018 was also the year when I played a lot of digital Magic the Gathering, first on the new Arena client in closed beta, then on MTGO, then again on Arena. The Arena client has come a long long way and far surpassed my expectations, though you still can’t play an actual real draft on it (you draft with bots, not with other players). It’s maybe too easy and convenient to play a draft on either client — I spent far more money on both than I had planned to. They’re also a very different experience to drafting and playing with other people in the flesh, which is something I hope to fit into my schedule once in a while now.

I almost forgot I played Into The Breach earlier this year. I had some great 31 hours and three or four weeks with it but it felt done and contained by then. Eventually I grew bored with the way almost every information is transparantly presented to you (compared to an XCOM) and there being one optimal solution for every encounter, usually. What after in tactics games, I think, is the feeling of things holding together by a thread, of getting away with something.
(I still wanna check out Mutant Year Zero, among some other 2018 releases)

There’s also RDR2, which I got a release exactly two months ago, and only now find myself putting in more than an hour every three weeks. The multitude of systems seem to have a harder time grapping me than the previous game did eight years ago, but that may change with a little more time.

In short, GOTY 2018 is Titanfall 2 again.

Cool Post! Glad you gave that insight that helped everyone.

that is an almost eerily complete list of games I didn’t quite love

your tastes are like just off from mine, it’s wild that it could be so consistent

I think it all comes down to you preferring Mother 3 while I prefer Mother 2. That’s the ultimate dividing line!
