Sorry, I should’ve guessed because of the Stein Gates.

Anyway and no one asked for it but I did track the games I won in 2018 too:

I am sorry you played that much grabbed by ghoulies.

my top 7 are three racing games, three huge commercial failures, and an iPhone exclusive. I don’t think I’m anyone’s idea of representative

hmmm, what are the commercial failures?

two excellent one-man projects that went nowhere (planetoid pioneers and mirror drop, both of which I talk about on the deathcast whenever that goes up) and one extremely well-rounded CRPG that sold terribly by contrast to its aggressively mediocre predecessor

OK, i was thinking SQEX-level failures here, all’s right w/ za worudo.
(remember the code age disaster?.. yeah, neither does anyone)

I realized I had a list of 2018 games I beat, of which nearly none of them were released in 2018.

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 (I completed on the 4th of January, close enough)
  • Scribblenauts
  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
  • VOI
  • Crashmo
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • SOMA
  • BOXBOY!
  • Subsurface Circular
  • Burnout Paradise Remastered
  • Grim Fandango Remastered
  • Tappingo
  • Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Picross e7
  • Where is my Heart?
  • Faxanadu
  • The Misadventures of Tron Bonne
  • N++
  • Tacoma
  • Shinobi (PS2)
  • F J O R D S
  • Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
  • hocus
  • kuso
  • Inside
  • Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward
  • Counterhero: Chapter 1
  • Gunpoint
  • Lara Croft GO
  • Mass Effect 3
  • Mighty No. 9
  • puzzlement
  • Hammerfight
  • Bloodborne
  • Thumper
  • New Super Mario Bros. U
  • Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  • Rime
  • LostWinds
  • Illust Logic + Colorful Logic
  • Nier: Automata
  • Fire Pro Wrestling World

I wonder if there is any common theme running through these.

Which episodes did you beat in N++? I’ve played 53 hours of it and I think I still have some X-episodes to beat in the “N++” chapter.

I still have a few episodes left in “Legacy”, and then a ton left in “Ultimate”.

I don’t know why you would be sorry for me enjoying one of the best Rare games.

If I am completely honest it I didn’t beat N++ as in “complete everything” as the game literally has thousands of levels in it. I cleared though I believe the whole N++ section.

Still a lot of N++!

Yeah, initially I was like “I can probably at least clear all of the normal single levels”, but then they like doubled the number of them in a free update and it struck me how the harder levels actually took a good amount of time (I think the final level in the final N++ set took me a good 40 minutes), so I figured that was a good place to call it finished.

if I had played wipeout vr before the end of 2018 then my list would’ve had four racing games on it

  1. Planetoid Pioneers
  2. Forza Horizon 4
  3. Deadfire
  4. Sprint Vector
  5. Mirror Drop
  6. Wreckfest
  7. Wipeout VR
  8. Six Ages
  9. Dead Cells
  10. Bloodstained

I don’t really keep up with major commercial titles for the most part, so here’s my list:

  1. ZeroRanger
  2. All Our Asias
  3. Behind Every Great One
  4. One Night, Hot Springs
  5. Snake Strike

I made a short Twitter thread about these games with pictures and links:
