Matt Norman’s stuff in general is really great, I recommend checking out all his music. I originally discovered his stuff through a collaborative project, Lily & Horn Horse, that he did with Lily Konigsberg (Also well worth checking out). To relate things back to videogames for just a sec, it was actually from watching this trailer for Witchball:

The album that “Bad Man” is from is a real highlight in particular. Seems to be an exercise in automatic song writing just judging from the title and how the music and lyrics come together, but it all works so well and leads to all these great little surprises and unexpected turns. He’ll be singing about his love for pizza one moment and then suddenly be discussing American decline the next… It’s good stuff!!

Edit: Couldn’t help but share another personal favourite…

This live performance at a taco place also never fails to make me smile:

Miso Extra - Pop

… but not the pop you’d expect :tarothink:

i listened to a comp of female surf bands and it sorta made me get how the shaggs’ dad could think they were a commercial pop proposition

The Beach Girls - He’s My Surfin’ Guy

there’s also a surf themed song from the supremes but i guess it wasn’t released as a single, so we missed out on a world where the surf music capital of the usa turned out to be detroit.

it’s telling that every interview I’ve seen him do for it basically comes across as straining not to talk about David Berman but I seriously think the new Ryan Davis album is one of my favorites I’ve ever heard straight out of the gate, he is the heir apparent
