Your song of the moment (Part 3)

very funny to me to write a song called scotland and then open it with the “oriental” gong / guitar part

  • from the EP Yeah, I Know It’s a Drag… But Wastin’ Pigs Is Still Radical — possibly the greatest title of any record in history

i believe (on pure speculation lol) the “drag” referenced in the title is an allusion to the fact the band had just signed with Warner Brothers and this was their very first major label release

Been getting into The Beths lately. They’re a not-atypical powerpop band, but their melodies are so good and they make all these songwriting decisions that don’t seem like much at first but really hit hard once you get to know the song.

In the second half of this song, the “aaaaahhhhh WOO!” hook that goes twice but then the third time the “woo” is replaced by this beautiful sustained harmony. So cool.

millennial americana is so good rn… I’m not a huge fan of MJ Lenderman but I think he’s done a great job of boosting the profile of Ryan Davis and Hurray for the Riff Raff

like I completely love this and it’s a sound that didn’t quite exist until recently

Heard this on the radio the other day. Don’t know how I’d never heard it before but it’s my kind of melancholy jangle pop.
