Third is weirder than their other stuff but their first three records are all very much worth it. #1 Record is when they were trying to be a really big pop band, Radio City is still somewhat in that mode though starting to fall apart, and Third is the fully falling apart.

this is one of my favorite Chilton songs also

I am finally on the new Arm’s Length and loving it. The songs are a little less poppy (except for You Ominously End) but if you want songs about falling apart while taking care of loved ones falling apart then can’t do much better.

Mishio Ogawa - Kioku

Could any music theorists out there break down for me what exactly is happening “mechanically” in this song to make it sound perpetually outside of time itself?? It’s almost like each instrument exists in its own time signature and yet it all still sorta gels together somehow
 The outro fade with the piano makes it extra clear how out-of-sync feeling parts of it are but
 I dunno, it just feels like sorcery to me!

Also, anyone with a working knowledge of Japanese might like to give me a vague gist of the lyrics. If anyone spares the time, thanks in advance!!

this is in 15/8 (5 groups of 3 8th notes per bar) or 5/4 with triplet swing

just count quarter notes in 5 and you’ll pick it up pretty quickly
