Percy Faith & His Orchestra and Chorus - Theme from “A Summer Place” [1960]
love it
Sophie Thatcher (the lady in the video) is a huge Pavement fan. so I think it’s exactly about what you said
i think this is the album that i enjoy listening to as much as i do making fun of
i just found this cover of “Black Star” by Radiohead recently and i’d make a covers that are better than the originals thread if i could think of more than one
This is like 85% of a good song, I have problems with it
but that EWI solo in the middle, hhooooooooooo boy
love it, love sam greenfield. would love to hear more about this:
and i would also love to send you songs of mine and have you tell me what percentage of a good song they are. i want that sacred knowledge
the ewi solo is cool, good energy, but god that head riff is so disgusting. best bit of the song to me
I think the B section is just kind of passionless soup, a dynamic change is a good idea but it seems like the kind of thing that would get improv’d on a first take. Just kind of farts along jam band style. I’m in this for the tight lines.
Smaller criticism but also not a total fan of the first 8 bars, it could either use some spice or just be converted to like a 1- or 2-bar tight riffy intro. I love the SNL style half-time thing that follows it though.
damn that’s a good clock, agreed on both counts
that B section really is a total energy void
