It didn’t really help lol
I used SAINT as my first word, which worked alright.

Used TARES as my starting word today.

I think I find the copy-pasted guess patterns more interesting than the game itself, sort of seeing the way people parse out their guesses
Wordle 200 5/6
ok, TIMER, but what else could go in that slot that’s not the solution?
Wordle 200 4/6
Got much luckier than yesterday, where the one correct letter just got my brain into a place where I couldn’t think of alternatives.
First word: BEANS. Second word: TRIED
im releasing a balance patch for the dictionary
I updated the spreadsheet to provide a score for every word based on what letters have been eliminated + what letters are known + the frequency of each letter in the wordlist. problem: since E is so common, words like “reree” (which is not a word dawg) get very high scores after eliminating a few letters.
So I added another column that counts unique characters in a word, so that way I can quickly go to the highest scoring word with 5 unique letters - this should be the best possible testing word early on.
after narrowing it down to 1 missing letter, I used my best judgment to pick words that were good tests + not bullshit words (looking at you, tiber).
I used this method to test it out on today’s puzzle as if I didn’t know the solution, starting with “AROSE” as the first word:

it didn’t fuckin help lol
Anyway my conclusions from this are:
Thank you for joining me on this journey to nowhere, I will not be releasing my spreadsheet nor will I be using it to solve puzzles.
I’m really curious about your second word here: I can’t think of any other words that start with the same three letters as the answer.
in order of most to least likely:
tirer
tiler - I almost did this one when solving for it originally
titer
ticer
tiber
tiver
SAINT,
TIGHT,
TIGER
oh, so if you have the same letter twice, one in the correct position and the other not used elsewhere in the word, the second is marked as gray and not yellow? that’s interesting
yeah you don’t get any hinting around repeated letters, which is the only really sticky design choice here I’ve notice
See, I knew I wasn’t making it up
oh, i wouldn’t have got that … was really hoping you tried tigon tho
