how many levels down can reactors react to reactors

Easton’s already posted a 4.5 minute followup to drill down on a point or two he thinks prominent yellmen are missing + hit one or two others.

I am finally watching this television show and I must say I appreciate how it remixes characters from their core elements

It’s a pretty good show. Looking forward to the next season. I’ve been watching Henry Cavill be a giant nerd on youtube. It’s fun.

i haven’t played a witcher or read a witcher but i watched a witcher on TV

I only knew vague secondhand details about Gerald Witchman, like the most experience i have with him is as a character from soul calibur. so i know that he has a fun moveset and that my original characters can kick his ass. I expected way more of a typical brooding fantasy guy so it was a nice surprise when i realized he’s actually Wolverine. Like he’s basically someones hot boyfriend OC they made up after watching x-men 2 and inuyasha… like he has white hair and golden eyes and force magic, and everyone hates him everywhere he goes because hes the strongest and hottest dude around. i love it. i will definitely see more of his adventures

i also really liked hot goth gf witch for similar reasons

it’s probably because ive been conditioned by years of playing video games and not because it’s actually good writing but, i loved that the show constantly drops references to fantasy concepts and never bothers to explain them, you just have to figure out wth anyone is talking about from context clues. Like someone mentions the Conjunction of the Spheres and the Law of Surprise and i’m just like ā€œYes yep uh huh gotchaā€. i mean the magic system is basically FMA alchemy so i got that pretty quick lol

Of all the new pulp TV shows, Witcher is the only one I actually want more of. I have no idea how some misogynist Polish nerd’s derivative fanfic got morphed into the most fun fantasy property but there’s about a thousand ways it could’ve gone very bad (the first game is one of them lol) so I’m glad we’re here.

I dunno your tolerance for lawnmower sims but the third game is quite similar to the show and is a blast. It’s just… really, really long, and crammed with shit. If part of what you liked from the show was its punchiness, you won’t get that in the game, but… I still think it’s worth a shot if you’re into the show’s vibe.

There is a mod that makes Witcher 3 combat a lot more satisfying, which is something I’ve used basically since day one. Because not being able to even dent an enemy because it’s 4 levels above you is silly, and the same with enemies not being able to hurt you at all if they’re 4 levels below you.

i’ll try 3 at some point but i think i’m actually gonna play the 1st game first lol. I’m very into experiencing this setting as a clunky point and click crpg

2 is definitely worth playing, but I can’t say enough how much you don’t need to play 1 to follow the plot of the later ones, the combat system isn’t fun yet (and is not turn based point and click), it has the Skyrim kleptomania problem where your inventory gets full of fiddly little bits of shit, and the Geralt Fucks stuff is way way on the gross end of the gross-cute spectrum. Not that you shouldn’t play it, just… be prepared for what you’re getting into

I played the first game earlier this year due to wanting to play them in order and I had a better time with it than I anticipated. It has issues (the sex stuff with getting a card for every lass you bed is as dumb/bad as it sounds) and the combat is… very much its own thing, but I liked how each chapter generally keeps you in a certain not too small but certainly not large area that you get to learn while there.

I would very much recommend the mod that increases your walking speed as the game very much needs it, plus a couple of the bug fix ones that apparently deal with issues that crop up frequently. Also make sure to rotate your saves as I did end up with a bugged save that made a boss battle impossible to complete, assuming it was an actual bug and not me simply being cursed when it comes to PC games.

I think Witcher 2 is the only one that actually makes you use the shit in your inventory, with the alchemy stuff being manual.

yeah, 2 is underappreciated imo (it was gorgeous in 2011, first hints of what the eastern european environment modelling industry would turn into over the following decade), it’s got good pacing and doesn’t trip over itself and the archetypes are well done and the combat, while unintuitive at first b/c the animations don’t really match the mechanics and they don’t signal the extent to which it’s all about crowd control, is actually really engaging.

1 is not underappreciated at all

In Witcher 2 I read books about certain enemy weaknesses and the levels were small enough to find the herbs required to make the oils and bombs to kill them. But in Witcher 3 is there any way to know where to find herbs? Or do I have to run around the MASSIVE map until I spot with my Witcher eyes some Cocksblossom buried in the background detail? Massive disconnect in my experience.

I finished the first witcher game and hated it, I got about 20 hours into the witcher 2 and did not like it but it was better than witcher 1. I got about 20 hours into witcher 3 and did not like it but it was significantly better than witcher 2.

The tv show is just about the least awful writing of the entire franchise tbh and its because they upped the himbo and dropped the constant background radiation of middle aged polish guy misogyny

i want to say i bought a lot of them from vendors but it’s been a while

when we say misogyny what are we talking here? Is it like, typical bullshit where it’s bad but i can roll my eyes at it and move on, or is it actively repulsive? Ftr i’m aware of the sex trading cards and consider that ā€œroll my eyes and move onā€ territory

likewise how much less himbo are we talking, because i absolutely want to play Geralt as the biggest monster slaying himbo in the land

i appreciate the warnings about witcher 1 regardless, all three are on sale on steam for super cheap and 1 is the only one i’m sure will run on my computer so i’ve been tempted to scoop it up out of curiosity. I am prepared for the datedness.

I’d say by average it is the stuff that you just may roll your eyes at. Lots of it is depicted as mysoginy, so it’s explicit instead of subtle. Most of it is just like everyone is fantastically receptive to the horniness of men. But this is kind of a personal thing so I can’t say if it will play the same for you.

But as far as himbo… I don’t think I ever thought of Gerald as a himbo in all my time playing the games. I would have liked to, and maybe I just didn’t see it, but I wouldn’t consider him a himbo.

He’s a bigger dumbass in the books
