a playstation version of that thing was released, but the only game i know of that supports it is forsaken, which i think was some kind of weird cyberpunk descent spinoff?
Correct on all counts!
I do have that PS2-to-USB adapter, but I have no idea how this controller would map if directly converted. The arduino software is set up to make the ball read as both a mouse curser and WASD keys, which approximates how itâs meant to control an FPS game.
Looks more like Billy Zoom from X!
Iâve always wanted to get a spaceorb. I do have a logitech cyberman that I need to try soon. It only works with a couple of DOS games as far as I know.
Hereâs the cyberman, if you havenât seen one before:
How did the BBC let them get away with that?

Re: Neo Geo clicky d-nubs, I have one of these and now the price is so low I want to buy like a dozen before theyâre gone forever.
Iâve actually read a few instances of people finding the same problem with PS3 controllers and oranges, definitely made me wash my hands a bit more often.
Another problem with them is the rubbery plastic material used in the analog sticks seems to degrade over time to where they end up covered in a gross sticky goo. Iâve seen this not only in Sixaxis and DS3 models, but even the Playstation Move Navigation Controller. Itâs pretty bizarre.
Another problem is they have an internal rechargeable battery that can fail in disastrous ways, like in mine which I found after a period of disuse with the case bulging open from the battery expanding. I got some good years of use out of it, sure, but using it on PC always required hacks and now thereâs evident manufacturing defects.
Itâs a good thing for preservation purposes that PS3s can mostly be used with certain third-party USB controllers, I guess.
yeah, man, that goo on ps3 sticks is nightmarish, i donât understand it
I was always under the impression that it wasnât the plastic of the sticks decomposing or whatever, but rather whatever lubricant they use for the ball under the stick oozing out onto the surface.
Itâs not actually a ball, hereâs a pic:
The lower part is aesthetic/to keep fingers etc. out. It doesnât generally contact the inner rim of the shell, so thereâs not really a need for lubricant. Anyway in my experience the goo can be found on the grip surface even on controllers that have been sitting with the thumbsticks upright; itâd have to have some weird properties to ooze up and around like that.
does this thing work on the PS4? I donât know anything about sonyâs controller chicanery
the PS3 let you plug in pretty much anything plausible and it would work, the PS4 is strictly PS4 controllers only
I believe the deal is the PS4 stops taking input from other controllers after a few minutes without activity from a PS4 controller. I donât have a PS4 to test, but it would be a pain basically.
Yeah⌠I bought two of those PDP pads for the 360 and was psyched to have mechanical click sticks at such a cheap price. Then I was playing Tulpa in Garou Mark of the Wolves, and I realized that my inputs were barely being communicated. The stick had huge dead zones. I had just packed it for a flight, so itâs possible that it had broken during the flight, butâanywayâyou get what you pay for, I guess. Definitely has mechanical contacts, but doesnât matter if the inputs donât travel.
Edit: reading the Amazon reviews, it seems that my experience is pretty common, as well as buttons or the whole pad just dying. Itâs really a shame. Iâd gladly pay $30 or more for the same pad with decent build quality. The price point is nice, but who wants to pay any amount of money for a product with a 50% hit rate and an unknowable lifespan?
Oh yeah, it definitely has a wide dead zone. Iâve kind of gotten used to it, you can adapt by basically moving faster, but that does make it more tiring than it should be. I think it might be something easily moddable, because these d-nubs are similar in operation to an arcade joystick, with a shaft positioned in the middle of 4 microswitches (which is what makes them clicky). However, I donât want to experiment on the only one I currently have.
Did anyone here happen to get in on this Kickstarter? Because like, what the fuck.
Besides the name being brilliant for crowdfunding, this thing is probably terrible. I mean, two individual wireless controllers for maximum game compatibility issues along with the wonderful potential for latency and desync. Also the modular bits likely end up being wiggly and falling out.
Still I canât help but feel thereâs some bizarre genius in the ergonomics, like the unevenly-raised d-pad, or the gentle inward curve to straighten the wrist.
I noticed today that the N64 controller looks a bit like a starfish alien. The control stick is the penis, and the Z trigger is the anus. When youâre shootman in Goldeneye, youâre giving a handjob and fingering the butthole of a starfish alien.
I bought an N64 USB controller for general emulation. No regrets.
This is madness
i had one of these bad boys and i absolutely loved it. i love me a Sega Genesis/Saturn 6 button pad as much as anyone but this takes the best Dpad in my mind and puts it in a controller that fits better in my hand.
i tried for so long to find an official Sega USB saturn pad that didnât cost a goddamn fortune and in my haste i bought this for cheap:
which has a great D pad but all the buttons feel too toy-like and cheap and never feels right when i use it on OpenEmu. this thing a kids show version of the saturn pad (obvious from the big PLAY logo) and i do not recommend.
