There was an NES controller like that. There were at least two models of it shown at different times in, I think, Nintendo Power. Prototype was black and bulkier…
EDIT: here.
That first picture… is that Gary Numan?
(I mean… let’s pretend it is.)

Damn, you get to still play Nintendo despite losing use of your hands and you get to be decked out like you’re Darth Vader or something. Pretty rad.
There’s a speedrunner by the name of halfcoordinated who only has the real use of one hand but successfully competes against other speedrunners on Twitch. He uses unmodified controls, but he’s still an advocate for accessibility in games. This person has a lot of talent.
i have a third-party beatmania iidx arcade-style controller and nothing i’ve ever played feels as satisfying as slamming on those keys
i prefer playing at home to playing in the arcade, mostly because i have to stand in a really uncomfortable position at the arcade because i’m too tall for the machine
My favorite controller:
I mean, I could get fake cadillacs for my PC, but they are pricey and I just don’t really have anywhere to set them up either.
Hmmm thinking about this some more, using my real guitar to play Rocksmith might have been the best controller experience I’ve had besides kb&m
Yeah I should really get back into that, maybe the adaptor I got with the 360 version will work for the PC port?
Or I just my regular audio interface like a normal human
Last I checked, Rocksmith required an official dongle (probably because they have an idea of the latency specs and frequency response etc on it) but they didn’t differentiate between the console and pc dongles.
Would anyone be opposed to moving this to King of Posters? I like a lot of the images and discussion here
dreamcast, genesis 3-button, n64
i love that all those old systems that used serial ports for the controllers were somewhat compatible, using genesis and atari pads in amiga games is nice.
yeah, i always used a mega drive pad with my amiga, because it was either that or some gigantic, horribly designed joystick
having talked to the guy: yes, he is good and cool. i’ve unsuccessfully attempted to convince him to do God Hard difficulty in the past
There is a crack for that that enables you to use your guitar no matter how it’s plugged in. I just use the Behringer adapter that I have
Where/how much
I’ve been meaning to get one of these forever
So I got a deal on one of these:
I had my doubts, but dudes, this thing is actually really nice. Lovely button/d-pad action, and not as cramped as I expected. Incredibly light, and the analog sticks are surprisingly NOT terrible (though they are biased towards digital resting points, e.g. U/D/L/R)! It even came in a nice box with a nifty keychain and a USB-OTG cable. I’m impressed! I spent a big chunk of yesterday putting it through its paces with some emulators. Solid as a rock.
Seems to work fine with everything I’ve tried it with, too. Latest beta firmware also allows it to use XInput over Bluetooth, which I’ve heard was the main thing holding it back.
Last I checked there were a few on eBay! $70 is the going rate. The eTokki converter is made by a Shoryoken guy, I believe. They have a website. Not sure if it’s sold out by now.
The Super Famicom controller.
The size, weight and shape remind me of playing Super Nintendo as a kid.
The design is about as small as it could be so it never makes that echo-y sound of hollow plastic.
I bought their tiny controller a couple weeks back. I didn’t realize it was going to be that small when I ordered it.
The quality is nice though. I have limited experience with pairing Bluetooth stuff and the tiny one is nowhere as well documented as their normal controllers, but eventually I figured it out. It apparently has an Xinput setting too.
