what game has the most atmospheric rain?

my vote is probably for metal gear solid ground zeroes, i love the rain in that game. gives me chills

minecraft storms are lovely, too

rain makes me so happy, and when i can’t get it in real life i need it in a video game

GTA V has lovely rain. As the rain gets heavier, the streets get shinier and potholes and puddles get filled up. It’s gorgeous.

MGS2: Tanker

i prefer the ps3/360 version of ground zeroes because the rain looks more stylised when rendered worse

heavy rain

Probably not the most atmospheric but possibly the comfiest
At any rate it makes me happy

Rain World lol

Euro Truck Simulator 2 has pretty awesome rain. The rain and the sound of the window wipers really give a mood to rainy day deliveries.

The whole day/night and weather cycle in the game is really good in general. My favorite chill game at this point.

Nioh has one level with pretty amazing relentless rain

Persona 5’s rain isn’t special, but, when it’s raining, the protagonist automatically opens or closes his umbrella when he leaves or goes to a sheltered area

Link to the Past’s rain in the opening really hyped me in 97 when I played it, but unfortunately the rest of the game never lived up to it

I played through Uncharted 4 over the weekend, it has some good feeling storms

I’m probably gonna play every game mentioned ITT

Breath of the Wild is the first game i’ve ever played with random sun showers and rainbows. They are as gorgeous as you’d hope. It also has legit terrifying thunderstorms, with lightning striking all about you (and possibly striking you if you’re equipped with metal weapons, or are even standing near one!). If you see one off in the distance, you can watch it dissipate in real time.

There is also the beginning of this game, which i’ve loved since i was a kid:

(skip around a bit within the first 10-15 minutes or so and you’ll see it. but first watch that cutscene to hear the beautiful music and see a video game main character make out with his pregnant wife)

ya seeing this post of yours made me wonder if any other games have actual clouds that rain, it seems like it normally just kind of descends from the ether perhaps accompanied by a change in lighting

Hail! The storms in SoM are pretty good in general tho

minecraft’s rain is pretty good, but minecraft’s snow is way better someone once asked me what i’d put into minecraft 2, and i think rain that filled holes with water would be one of the many things i’d put in there

i’m currently playing the witcher 3, and the rain in that is great! if i’m out in it, i’m all “ah shit shit it’s raining this sucks”, but if i’m in a building, especially a multi-story one, i’ll look out of the window at the rain and it feels very nice and cosy.

it’s been years since i played it, but i remember viking: battle for asgard having pretty nice rain, but it was a game with generally a nice atmosphere anyway. it looked a lot like the yorkshire countryside a lot of the time, and the scenery is one of the few remaining things i haven’t begun to hate about this place.

this post will surprise exactly zero people but the rain in morrowind left a strong impression on me

I haven’t had time to play my copy much yet (because too much fire emblem) but my sister and our roommate have been playing it nonstop. I wandered into the living room at point and witnessed rain falling in the zora domain and I about had a moment. Seems like every time I look at the game I’m emotionally overcome.
