Waifu Bartending is really pretty

Subtle MGS ref

Loosely related - I can’t seem to take screenshots using Steam. Seems to be a general Mac issue though.

Can’t believe I’m seeing a Cotton ref in the year 2016

Also one of the BGMs is named UMEMOTO and totally sounds like a Ryu Umemoto track.

So are you serving drinks to waifus or are you the waifu?

(y-you were the waifu all along!)

I played one of the prototypes of this for a bit. Seems intriguing.
How is the writing in general, though? My main concern from watching that trailer is that it would be mostly crappy youtuber-talk and that all the “humor” comes from references to other videogames.

They are still using Android Jellybean in 21xx? That is a remarkably specific retrofuture

Apparently there’s a fair amount of references to ‘White Knights’ and ‘SoCal Justice Warriors’ although in what context I am not sure

The White Knights are your friendly neighborhood dystopian corporate police force.

There are a number of reference jokes, but most of the humor comes from character personalities, weird banter.

@Persona Steam screenshots seem broken in this game on Windows, too, so I’ve resorted to Print Screen. Wish it auto saved to desktop like Macs do.

For general purpose screen capturing and sharing I’ve been using ShareX and it’s been working very well. It’s very flexible and is easy to change capture behavior with a couple of clicks on the task bar.

if you had to review this game, what would you liken it to

Snatcher but with reverse sexism

that was a joke

Ok, so in the trailer in the OP, at 0:30, the eyepatched catgirl in red, is she from something or OC? Because it’s driving me nuts thinking I recognize her from somewhere.

You can use this little program to fix that:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/2spbsu46v17400i/Grabby.exe
Automatically saves PrtScn screenshots to a folder of choice. Only real issue being that it only saves to either BMP or JPG. You can adjust the JPG quality though and I think at 100% it’s actually lossless? Report back if it doesn’t work with W10.

The game’s technically a couple years old now, you might have seen her in older screenshots/art

“Eyepatched catgirl” also describes 5,601,729,002 anime pictures I’ve seen in passing

SHE’S A PROSTHETIC EYE CATGIRL GUYS JEEZ

So that reduces your numbers by maybe a quarter, diplo.

I wish people would use numbers more conservatively for hyperboles, I cannot unregister that diplo watches anime pictures all day every day now

Help me out: what drink is this?

I keep hotkeying out of the game and it makes the game stuck in speedthru-text mode so I forgot what I was doing. I replayed Kira Miki’s part and made all her drinks perfectly though.

Piano Man. It’s sneaky, because Jill mentions the history of it during a conversation, rather than it being in the description.

I tried playing this yesterday, but I agree with the criticism in http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-07-06-does-va-11-hall-a-capture-the-joy-of-a-menial-job-well-done that it’s way too passive. I expected something a bit like Papers Please, but it takes more strongly from the PC-98-style “visual novels” it references in that you really do very little except for passively read reams of text. And although the script is better than your screenshots make it look, it’s still pretty much within the normal range of quality for a videogame script and doesn’t really carry the experience on its own.

Ahh! Thanks, Honjulas!

And yeah, Broco, it’s a visual novel. If you were hoping for a bartending game with some talking on the side, sorry
:doomdie:

Yeah, the bartending mechanic exists mostly for flavor, which is fine with me but I can understand why that would disappoint. As an anime, I generally enjoyed the character banter and the relaxing feel of it all. Though pretty much all of the in-game Internet jokes are painfully, agonizingly bad.
