The bartending is the game’s equivalent of choices though. I wonder how differently it’d play out if you just mess up everyone’s drinks?
I did notice that just getting a drink kinda right versus getting it exactly made this difference of Kira Miki staying around and talking for twice the length.
Yeah, it’s interesting to note the little variations on stuff based on what they get aside from the big things where the right drink at the right time determines if you’re on the “route”, as I can’t think of a better term. I like the system precisely because while the game gives you hints as to when that right time is for the big stuff, assuming Jill isn’t distracted, actually knowing what to hand out is based on your own observational skills and memory. The Kira Miki one being the sneakiest of the bunch perhaps.
One part of it too I think is the total alcohol content, especially malleable with the drinks that have optional levels. I got Dorothy totally plastered by loading up a Sugar Rush or something once and got something new, as well as a enjoyable drunk face from her.
This also applies to the scene when Jill and Dana are drinking beer, how much and quickly Jill gets drunk, the more the conversation changes.
I totally messed up Toups’ drink requests. I didn’t realize the drink he wanted actually existed until I looked at all the types of drinks I had later.
I had noticed it earlier so that was no problem for me. Messed up on 17 my first time through, turned out my first instinct that I second guessed was right on my second time through.
Yup, one of those big moments where you get hints I was talking about. Though one of the achievements on Steam also kinda serves as a general hint that such situations can occur with the description “sometimes the wrong drink can be the right thing”.
Also, a neat thing I noticed, you can interact with the background a bit. Clicking on the TV changes channels, clicking the exit sign lets you quit just like hitting exit on the menu, and clicking on the pink screen (arcade machine?) on the lower right changes the border style of all the screen elements. That alternate border can get kind of messy when Streaming-chan’s around though, as the scrolling comments show through it.
Do anyone know where are the saved games stored in OS X? I was playing on my work laptop these last weeks (I know, I know) and know I want to take those saves to my desktop.
About the game itself: I have to say that one of my worries was that it was going to be mean or looking down its characters. But no, so far (I am still just before the Christmas party) it treats the characters it show you with due respect. Oh, and figuring out what Virgilio wants is quite fun if you want to bother reading the list of cocktails.
I’m on windows but you got me curious where they are on there since they aren’t just sitting in the game directories. In tracking them down, I find the location should be fairly easy to find on any system via file search, as saves are text files rather uniquely named “Record of Waifu Wars” followed by a number in brackets.
