the way so many NPCs just kind of trail off in the shadowrun SNES game. it makes every conversation you have in a shitty dive bar or whatever feel way more conspiratorial and its really good

i love how so many of the unimportant NPCs have names like “Shady man…” and “Heavy Dude” and shit, it all feels appropriately edgy the way youd want a cyberpunk game to be. the ask about system is one of the better ones ive seen in games too. it feels really natural when you ask someone about something they dont have a response for, like the shady weapons dealer on tenth street starts panicking because youre asking too many questions or shadowrunners will tell you off for wasting their time. youve got hitmen after you literally shooting out of every other window and popping out of shrubs and shit and it feels like everyone can tell, so nobody has time for a dead mans shit. the atmosphere of the game and the appropriately suspicious disposition of the NPCs really makes it feel more organic and immersive than like, wasteland or fallout where they just go i dont know what youre talking about when they logically should
also man that fucking dope ass song that plays when you wake up in the morgue really sets the tone of the fucking game, its so good
