i got star ocean 3 as a gift from my parents when i was a teen and i earnestly tried to play it up until some point early in disc 1. Bad game!
sometimes i remember it though and think about:
1 the soldier guys who scream GLORY TO AIRYGLYPH when you kill them (airyglyph is the stupid name of one of the stupid rival kingdoms or whatever)
2 at the start of the game you have to do the boring walk around and talk to everyone prologue that every rpg thinks it needs for some reason. the entire time you’re doing this your not-girlfriend has her fly down

I did not approach 3 lightly considering I only liked SO2 half as much as a friend that pushed it on me, this game is legendarily reviled…hard to find much defense
Save that I dug hard into late/post game challenges, like striking 30 hours of gold…I was probably (very much) on a dopamine numbers binge.
Aside from the meta-virtual world tweest, I can’t remember enough to even know what else was going on besides space boy on fantasy planet. It’s such an animustew doofy jrpg but must’ve seemed refreshing to whatever else I’d been playing at the time.

As poorly paced as SO3 was, compared to past games, at least it didn’t have the Dinner Dance.
I’ve never played SO4, and I can’t stop thinking about the Dinner Dance.

Oh, right, Infinite Undiscovery was the one we thought tri-Ace made so they could be ready for the HD era, and could jump right into SO4 and give it their best effort.
