fucking CO-SIGNED
Maybe after he’s done with the new Space Jam we can get LeBron’s Combat Basketball or something.

sports games and racing games. both are trapped in boring sim hell now. like most problems with modern entertainment being boring, i blame budgets being too big
super mega baseball (preferably 2) and wreckfest are both a lot of fun
they did a Mutant League Football reboot recently but i was never that compelled to check it out because i find the aesthetic of it off-putting
I liked frozen cortex a fair bit but it didn’t really go anywhere
PS2 : retro :: Nirvana : classic rock
That’s what happens when you call something new or retro, and i have an easy fix for that:
Just tack on the useless bracketing terms used in other domains and create more monstrosities!

the horrific awareness of how if lp’s had existed back when I don’t think I would of been able to stop myself from watching one of silent hill 2 before I had a ps2
i recorded a playthrough of metal gear solid to a vhs tape and didn’t put a label on it. someone at school used to borrow my tapes because he only had a vcr in his room, no aerial.
one morning he came to me, annoyed that all he had to watch the previous night was a 6 hour long tape of me playing metal gear solid
There was this really skinny kid with a giant head at my Jr. High school. Everyone called him Egghead and treated him like crap
We rode the same bus, and one day he brought me a VHS tape and asked if I could record all the Mortal Kombat fatalities from the Sega Genesis version for him. I did it and gave him the tape a few days later.
I hope that dude turned out alright. I was never mean to him, and I’m pretty sure he considered me a friend.
thinking about the turn-of-the-century micro-handheld trend
you had the dreamcast VMU
the sony pocketstation, which downloaded games thru the memory card slot
and the pokemon mini, which was a standalone cartridge based thing (lol)
were there more? idk
all these were, in retrospect, riding on the aesthetic/technical coattails of tamagotchi
i’d ask when this sort of stuff would get a retro revival, but with stuff like the arduboy i guess it has already happened
My dad got a copy of Mortal Kombat for the genesis, but stopped letting me play after he saw the fatalities (“too violent for girls to play”). I also believed for a long time that Doom was some demon summoning game or something because he told me that it was an evil, scary game? I’m thinking now that maybe he just didn’t want me touching his games. But then he turned super religious after I went into junior high, so who knows.
There was also this thing, but it was basically a pedometer if I remember correctly.

with this, and a couple of friends of mine being told by their dad that pokemon was really short for “pocket demons”, it’s kind of funny how so many religious parents were really scared of shin megami tensai, even though they’d probably never heard of it.

I had one of these. I was too impatient to use it as a pedometer and I wound up spending a weekend shaking it constantly, through car-rides, tv shows, and meals.
I stuck my Pokewalker on an oscillating fan and racked up crazy steps
Arduboy.
I just flashed Do You Remember Love back onto mine today.
I’ve never even played any Xeno-game nor heard of this character before, but this gimmick account is still so good. Why hasn’t it gone viral yet
