imo an industry is not a scene and besides sneering i don’t have particularly strong feelings about the way a cultural industry chooses to spend its energy before its inevitable collapse
Honestly, I thought this was cheesy and in poor taste when I played the game years ago. Now I dislike it even more since I have a baby. I think that crappy Dante’s Inferno game also had some shock-value Dead Baby Enemies. Visceral Games was really on one, back then.
I think crt displays and low resolutions were the 24fps/44 minute lp length of games and it was a mistake to get away from that
If I’m wrong here it’s twice in two days I’ve been wildly wrong recollecting stuff about a game I barely played, but - didn’t the babies you had to fight pour out of like, a giant Cleopatra’s nipples, too?
I think the PS3 version includes a readable digital copy of Dante’s Inferno, I guess for those hankering for the original experience.
Can’t wait to read text for 5 hours on my Trinitron, sick
Maybe ? I never played the game I just remembered reading about them in a review
Yeah and she would caress her nipples during the boss battle and fling babies at you like breast milk. I think…
I was really impressed when I learned that the loading screens of otome games often have white backgrounds to prevent this!
Every single game should support that
How in all 4 Souls games plus Elden Ring, STR builds are better than DEX builds
At some point I have to wonder if it’s a joke or a worldbuilding thing. So you want to roleplay a dual-wielding sword dancer? Hope you’re extremely skilled then
in fairness to those guys, it sounds like the whole theoretical experiment was “what if we had no idea what pain was?”
and maybe he regrets it in retrospect, but did Princess Mononoke not use computers to achieve unnatural gross-out horror effects?
that’s what happens in worlds without guns
“Large man with large thing” is an actual martial archetype with combat value, “dual-wielding sword dancer” is made up fantasy bullshit
well alright i was going to say, polearms are the most effective yet boring (dexterity) weapons in the series just like IRL but i dont think we can pretend strength weapons are more “real” in a series chock full o dragons and demons and shit where the best strength weapons require demigod strength at minimum
Im glad the series eventually created space for fancy dual weapons builds but i did sorta like when i played the first game and the flashiest stuff you could do with an offhand weapon was parry and occasionally counter-slash. and the most practical load out you can have is a spear, a club, and a plain arming sword. Its cool to fight demons dragons etc. with that. still
but there are some very effective dex weapons in dark souls 1? i actually for real thought people were picking strength weapons because it is more satisfying to slug someone with something heavy than like, slice and poke them a bunch, rather than some kinda silly gaming efficiency thing
