at this point i wish i could just pay other people to play all the games in my Steam/Epic/Gog/Itch libraries + random shit i downloaded and give me a book report on them. i’ve been practicing digital hoarding for years and that’s sort of a problem when you’re someone who has a hard time getting into + finishing games.

No, I keep getting into these sort of β€œhow long could it possibly take?” projects where the answer invariably is β€œway too long, what were you thinking”. Actually these sort of things kinda are the video game things I think about a lot now that I think about it…

there’s a list of about 50 things i’d pay people to do if i had the money and this is probably ranked 50th on the list

i do wish there was a way i could just give my digital games to other people though. like - here you go, have fun with it that i’m clearly not going to have. i keep thinking there’s a context that will get me to play a lot more of this stuff, but at this point there’s just no way anymore to make a serious dent. my Steam library just jumped over 1,000 (i didn’t spend a lot to get there mind you) and i’m having a bit of an existential crisis about it.

I think β€œbook club” like group activities, such as like what the forum is doing with the PC Engine right now, is probably the best/most likely to work way to get people to play through a bunch of loosely collected games. I have no idea how to tie that into your particular backlog though sadly.

I remember at E3 in 2015 Xbox got on stage, presented their new console that looked like a DVR box, smacked it, and tried to set us all afroth by saying β€œwe packed this baby full with 5,000,000 transistors!” Then they talked about cable television for two hours.
