videogame things you think about a lot lot lot

Just found out Walmart from its concrete ziggurat looming tiered over north end of town which I have only been in once I think their price on peanut butter was competitive will deliver to me same day the Xbox controller Amazon doesn’t quite sell themselves but Wally will send someone for free today and Amazon’s UPS person only comes
“Pickup date: Next business dayϮ” with a Coptic sword stroke but is that today tomorrow from 1:30 AM they don’t say to pick up 8bitdon’t off my doorstep

Why was April O’Neil reporting from the Statue of Liberty?

Wallymart just delayed “Same day delivery” by two days ; D so I guess Amazon’s still on top in the megacorps to my doorstep showdown ; /

UPDATE

Maybe Walmart’s looking up a bit because Amazon’s vague UPS “next business day” pickup from my 1:30 AM return request turned out to be some time when I wasn’t looking that same day: as I went out to take some of my own stuff I’d been boxing up to ship at the PO, there was the UPS shipping label they were supposed to bring as a back-up in case they arrived when I wasn’t home (I was), laying in the snow beside the doorway (couldn’t leave the package on the doorstep for them to collect because it was wet out all day of course and my external apt door has no cover). This all seemed so lovely and futuristic in theory. ; D

(It did at least get me the return label faster than Amazon’s “mail me a label” option, and it’s still less of a pain than printing a label at the local library…so I’ll probably just try it again next time anyway. : P)

That in turn however makes me think that half of what made that game cool was the evocative names for the levels

i’ve always wondered this. when the game was new, in my head i auto completed it in my head as the big 1986 re-opening ceremony/centennial

well i hear, as a city, new york does generally stay up pretty late

Prior to covid, I though most cities stayed up pretty late. At least most cities where it wasn’t terribly hot. I had been in Houston where things shut down at night but I just assumed that was an exception.

Might have changed by now but when I was in Chicago 20+ years ago it shut down at night. Coming from Seattle I was pretty surprised by this.

i used to be nocturnal so there was some 24 hour stuff here i knew about but a lot of it went away after covid and definitely never was like new york, which seems like one of the top places to be nocturnal overall imo

ive done a bunch of sunset → sunrise partying but that’s more being plugged into a wider social circle of drug users and djs and what not. i have a german friend online who says berlin clubs are just like that by default… would love to go some time tbqh

Weirdly most of the Super Expensive Megadrive games have had some form of modern rerelease compared to other systems.

Pulseman, Panorama Cotton, Gleylancer

If only the Saturn were the same way…

I mean you say that, but we have the Saturn Tribute series with Batsugun, Cotton 2, Elevator Action Returns.

It would be incredible to get Blast Wind, Hyper Duel, and Shinrei(?nou?) Satsushi Taromaru.

Just got Radiant Silvergun, even!

Huh! Walmart has shipped the controller via FedEx from another Walmart halfway across the state. This is on their own dime! = P

Maybe they just give the FedEx drivers free hot dogs.

I’m just big mad we haven’t gotten a rerelease of Burning Rangers or Panzer Dragoon Saga.
