The time has come for 4th person action rpgs
I guess this is basically RTS games
first person games: i am the character
second person games: you are the character (??)
third person games: they are the character
fourth person games (collective): we are the character
fourth person games (indefinite): someone is a character
you know, they’re a real character
Second person would be like Siren where the player is viewing their character explicitly through the eyes of another agent within the game world. Or maybe some kind of DooM deathmatch mod where every player is assigned the camera viewpoint of a player on the opposing team and can only really tell what they are doing when they are in the enemy’s line of sight?
ah, so baten kaitos
sorta the opposite of screencheat
Would Twitch Plays Pokemon be a 4th person game? Or how about that time someone livestreamed a Pokemon game controlled by the movements of their goldfish?
That goldfish stream is a Videogame Thing I Think About A Lot. The chat begging the goldfish to swim left…
so reading an RPG manual is an example of playing a 4th person indefinite game, got it
thinking about the first game i ever made, which was lost to time because i made it on a school computer using game maker. it was 2D blastcorps but the player character was the black mage from final fantasy 1
the first ZZT game I ever tried making when I was 9 years old was a Town of ZZT clone. I got about as far as making half of a full-screen invisible wall maze west of the start. there was going a racing minigame after that board. i had no idea how to even implement a simple shop.
(what I’m saying is that I wish my younger self ever had an idea as good as Black Mage Corps)
kinda orthogonal to/removed from the video game itself but i think about the monster factory where they ran Dark Souls 3 script through multiple other languages then back to English, especially the results for character gender
really down with referring to my gender identity as “The situation”
and i want to see games that intentionally have stat attributes named stuff like “Dirty” and “Easy” and “Horizon”
A post was merged into an existing topic: les grognards online vfw post
It is really funny that someone who makes a game about like military industrial complex fantasies is mad about taxes though

Thinking about the ratio of Games where you can do a powerful spin attack with your sword VS Games that tackle having a child
Even fewer allow you to do a powerful spin attack with said child
Jak and Daxter.
seeing the FF6 mobile UI in a (bad) pixel style on a CRT feels bad — they’re either extremely lazy or trolling me, and either way i don’t like it
