I learned all these Korean censorship history all because: never buy the Samurai Shodown IV Korean version cart just because it’s cheap.
What happened to Korean Samsho IV???
Paewang Jeonseol: Legend of a Warrior, the Korean version, is based on the English mode, but is edited to remove all remaining instances of the Japanese language to comply with South Korean laws of the era that banned Japanese culture. As a result, the Language setting has been removed from both the Soft Dip menu and the AES mode’s options screen (which originally included all four languages including Spanish and Portuguese). The Violence setting is also locked to Level 1 (white blood, no dismemberment, no suicide or finishing moves) and is removed from the Soft Dip menu to prevent the operator from changing it. The blood code described in Console Differences does not work in this version’s AES mode. Finally, the character of Gaira Kafuin has been renamed to “Kim Ung Che” to add a Korean character to the cast.
The removal of Japanese from the game includes replacing any Japanese speech during an attack with a grunt, the complete omission of the announcer, and the deletion of all Japanese speech during victory poses without editing the animations (so characters move their mouths without talking). In addition, the original cartridge’s attract mode opening sequence and bad ending contain cursive Japanese text that is never translated even in the English, Spanish or Portuguese modes. These were simply cut from the Korean version altogether, which causes the game to skip directly to the title screen after the Neo Geo logo sequence, and to always show the good ending in single-player mode no matter how much time it takes for the player to reach Amakusa’s castle.

The most unforgotten feature is milk blood.
It released at the high tide of the conflict.
When I was in Seoul last August the AREX trains were playing videos about Dokdo.
Japan doesn’t really make a show out of those islands so much, surprisingly.

maybe we just differ on terms. “political reaction to decades-long occupation” is not really different from a response to colonialism to me. and the choices being made to subvert those laws still seem worth examining.
We don’t have any differences on origin opinion. It could all trace back to Japan implemented colonialism in Korea.
But for me it’s a bit like thought all development changes of Nintendo games and SEGA from the 1980s all back to its yakuza business origin and the choice of Nintendo’s successor has undoubtedly recreated the model of samurai factions from the Sengoku period. Taito’s arcade machines business are an extension of his Jewish fur trade network in war profits of Shanghai.
The main weak issue is inverted the subject, the game loses its ability to act as a subject under this theory, becoming merely an accessory to the theory, and the efforts of developers and publishers to respond to the new historical situation are also fully erased by such a flattened theory. In this ideology, new history will not be written, all actions are merely the unconscious play of history from the darkness.
What I try to do in the discussion is to avoid letting the theoretical subject hijack the game itself. Make sure the game is always the absolute on the main stage.
I was poking around in The Fool’s Errand in a browser emulator one time and there’s a puzzle that’s a word search of names of European countries. I found Slovakia and tried several times to highlight it, confused that the game wasn’t recognising it, before I remembered I was playing a game from 1987.
there’s a poster in the bar that’s located in the 2nd major town in Boiling Point: Road to Hell and it’s just this random Ukrainian guy with an alcoholic drink:
los tomatos
I know it’s been like 16 years, but whenever I think about the fact the Indie Game: The Movie got funded but You Meet the Nicest People Making Videogames didn’t, I still get a bit mad about how the whole thing turned out.

Thinking about when @Closed got 5 seconds on a stop watch.
There are times I wonder who the fan translators are even translating for. Us? A hundred people on a website blessedly no one knows about? If you’re not in the game for yourself, I can’t imagine being in the game at all.
There is unknown number of other websites no one knows about.
