I know I played a game that did that, but no idea what that was
Also reminds me of how in 13 sentinels you cycle through your inventory with an animation of your character holding the object in front of them, but then at one point you cycle to a gun and the surrounding crowd panics
I am a forgotten man. Iâm not really here. You didnât have to notice me⌠Please ignore me. I am a man who does not exist. You talk so kindly, I donât know what to do. If I miss people, I cannot live alone anymore. My conversation is always a monologue. Iâve been alone from the moment I was born⌠Lucky, unlucky⌠It makes no difference to me. Sometimes, even breathing becomes too much. Why do you insist on talking to me? Are you a forgotten man, too?
The problem came back, with HAGS still off, so who knows if HAGS was actually behind it; seems to have been due to an interaction between high Gain filter, a Compressor filter with its own small Gain boost, and just fairly high amount of ambient mic static; removing the Compressor filter (and putting that Gain boost into the main Gain filter) seems to have resolved it for the most part; Compressor filter was dropping the overall mic sound quality anyway. âpâ
My first AOL screen name was Strife, plus some digits AOL insisted on adding to the end, so Strife4806. It was inspired by the old PC FPS game. I tired of it before long and cycled through a few screen names before settling on one.
Iâm glad I moved on from the first one quickly enough to do it before 1997 and avoid anyone ever thinking Iâd name myself after Cloud Strife
Watching someone stream the Martyr Logarius fight in Bloodborne and out of the blue they drop the line âthis boss fight looks like it should be plastered across the back of a pick-up truck.â
Probably going to be thinking about that for a while.
I found which game I was thinking of regarding this, I had a clear memory of a character stuffing a big item down their pants in a detailed animation, likely a Lucasarts game, with Monkey Island 2 as a likely suspect, but I also clearly remember Guybrush has detailed animations for stuffing items in his coat, not his pants. Also in Secret of Monkey Island thereâs the great animation for taking out the key to the catacombs, but itâs from the side, not the front. Totally different.
But the one Iâm thinking of is from Monkey Island 2! Except itâs a NPC.
Speaking of picking up objects in Lucasarts games, in Sam & Max if you insist on trying to pick up the same fixed object again and again Sam becomes increasingly pissed off and then depressed. This has, IIRC, a separate counter per object although I could be remembering wrong. However thatâs not the bit I think about a lot!
No, the real amusing thing is that on the penultimate attempt Max tells you off for trying to pick up âthat stupid objectâ, but itâs a compromise for the CD-rom talkie version. In the textual floppy version, Max identifies the object with its internal ID number in that sentence.
In 2 years it will be the 30th anniversary of EGM asking Miyamoto âSo when are we getting Mario 64 2?â and Miyamoto saying âWell, Yoshiâs Island 64 is kind of a sequel to Mario 64, but weâre also working on some other things.â
If I remember right: Akiman, the artist who painted that, commented that he was tasked with drawing a big, cool Shadoloo base illustration so he illustrated this beautiful, brilliant, ridiculous thing. Apparently the reaction was not good because they wanted something cool instead of being so dumb lol
After all these years, I still laugh at Ryuâs pained expression partially from the horrors of what theyâre seeing and also because Chun Liâs wrist band is stabbing him in the arm
