uncle charted

Has anyone played Kill Switch? I haven’t, but it seems pretty important as a progenitor for these games.

or Winback, interesting enough for Nintendo to take it under its wing and birth early cover-shooter

I still think I like Uncharted 1 the best. That it all takes place in one location causes the plot to almost make sense.

Uncharted 3 has the worst plot. Drake has no reason to go after evil lady all his friends tell him no and he does anyways.

Shave and a haircut.

I don’t know that it’s a bad plot so much as it makes Drake a bad person.

Sometimes the inner desert of mass murder is its own reward.

Oh it totally makes Drake a terrible horrible psychopath that has murdered thousands. I couldn’t keep up playing the game or pretending to like him.

Eventually my game kept freezing at the same part and I took that as my queue to never play the series again.

I thought I was the only person who remembered Winback

“He left a message in his own blood? Way to go, kid!”

(the PS2 port added dee-lightful voice acting)

It makes sense that the lineage now would be Winback -> Kill.Switch -> Gears of War but I only ever remembered Winback from magazine articles comparing it to Metal Gear Solid. I never played it though.

Anyway is anyone else playing Unch4rted tomorrow? I’m going to pick it up on the way home. That video from the Eurogamer review @Felix linked got me all tingly with the bits where you roam around in the jeep and the speedboat. I don’t want an open world Uncharted, and it doesn’t sound like this one is, but I will definitely get down with some sneak-shooting in bigger, more branching levels that let you faff about on your own occasionally.

Also looking forward to the jarring dissonance between playing as mass murdering psychopath Nathan Drake punching a time card and sitting at home with the wifey on the couch all domesticated before jumping back into the grind and carving his way through another thousand henchmen on the promise of some sweet buried treasure.

yeah my girf just left for china I think I am going to stay up and play this

winback kinda ripped off MGS HUD and general aesthetic (plus animu trappings) so I guess that’s why it was frequently compared back then

I never played it. was always kinda curious. is it any good? I guess it’s at least of some curious historical interest for the cover shooter genre.

It’s pretty decent. I’d say it’s definitely something you’ll appreciate more as a historical artifact than on its own merits as a game, if that makes sense.

boy howdy this is a lot of graphics

I-is it all the graphics?

uncharted used up all the graphics for the rest of this console generation, sorry, that’s it everybody

don’t blame sony for the ps4.5, Naughty Dog forced their hand

Kids are complaining en masse because IGN gave Uncharted 4 the super low score of 8.8/10
I think that’s a new record

I now wonder what would be the highest review number from a big outlet that could still create controversy, provided maximum possible froth for the game. 9.4? I’m betting on 9.4

i’m sure i remember some kind of online meltdown re: twilight princess getting 9.x instead of 10 on one of those sites

played the ps4 uncharted 1/2 recently and i, uh, prefer the first? 4 hours seems to be the perfect length for these things, feel like 2 had some great setpieces but started to overstay its welcome especially with all the hokey shit at the end

e: Wait, how does the link preview function work here?
