i usually don’t do this, but i’m going to watch the first part of this later because i have no idea how to make any progress from the places i can get to from the first area

i mean in the actual 80s, i’d pored over maps of most games’ starting areas before i ever got my hands on a cartridge so

I cheat way less now than I did as a kid…kinda fucked up…

I beat Barbuta but haven’t gotten the no-deaths clear yet. I like how there are multiple ways to get to the final boss. I had a completely different selection of items in my inventory than Bachelor’s when I won! I think my way was much more roundabout though. I paid a laborer 500 gold to clear a direct path to the boss, lol.

Here’s the secret to my no-deaths clear:

I was about to head back for the tack and candy but realized I didn’t actually need them as I was right by the locked door (that’s where I’d game over’d on my previous attempt…). So I just unlocked it, spent all my money refilling all the eggs I’d lost, and beat the boss in 10 seconds. So bad ass…it’s almost like cheating…but the game let me do it…

If you unlock the door without breaking the wall it’s a point of no return though. I restarted an earlier attempt cuz of that but now I know I didn’t have to and the game is much more open than I’d thought…oops.

Tyriq is great, @Khan and I see him at co-working every month and he’s given really helpful feedback playtesting price of flight. I don’t know any of the other devs personally but Im glad the game is doing well just so he gets some of that bag

yeah tyriq is one of like three dudes that i have come to know in the local scene that i actually like and i think he deserves to be able pay rent, personally. eventually ill give ufo50 some of my time and probably love it because its pretty rare that i see a video game and think “maybe there are people who dont post on the forum who feel about video games the way i do”

also he gave us our best back of the box quote we’ve ever gotten for price of flight

oh i just got to bug hunter and yeah, totally a brough-like.

my one concern is whether or how the difficulty increases with jobs. i beat the first two, barely, but i also barely knew how to play, so i hope there’s some element that escalates. i think a modern brough game would have a slightly more complicated scoring system than just jobs completed, but i really like what’s here.

also it has a multiplayer mode which is something i’ve never even thought of putting in a broughlike, so i’m interested to try it and see if it actually works or not.

tentatively pretty high on my list!

the magic garden music is so good ahh

also being able to clear a slime in an adjacent cell but then use the hitstop to change directions before you actually enter it feels amazing

the numbers in the audiogroup[xx].dat files have no correlation to what number the game is in the collection — had to extract 45 of those files until i found the music that i wanted.

(the lengths i go to when i can’t find any gamerips online)

here’s a -9. i think if i add up all my best holes it’d be somewhere near the -20 to -25 range, so lots of room for improvement on my part. i am VERY inconsistent at some holes!

regardless, video should show how powerful dunk is in “fixing” shots or making some shots possible that aren’t usually.

fucked up that if these games were on a web page to download i would not try them but if you put them in a stupid nes classic edition grid that i can click on and play them in one second i will play more video games than i have in a decade

Porgyposting: The way the difficulty of bosses drops like a rock when you equip the homing is kind of unreal, and really speaks to how unsatisfying the default torpedos are to just accomplish anything with.
