Finished Mini and Max, and Vainger and I feel like I’ve had enough completing my top 3 alongside Mooncat. Vainger really cranks up the difficulty in that final boss segment.
I dabbled around with the secret EXEC-MIAS and it’s cool but I think I’ll save it to come back to another day. Excellent package overall.
it is weird to hear one of the guys from cLOUDEAD/Anticon records regularly appear on a podcast about indie games i also have regularly appeared on but sometimes those are the paths life takes you on. still have never met him though.
Played some multiplayer of this with a friend today.
Woldorf’s Journey was a surprise, launching your walruses and bouncing each other all over the place lead to some fun matches. Attactics was cool too. My friend couldn’t really deal with Ninpek or Rail Heist, but he really got into Party House.
Super Mario RPG and Shadow Hearts can get away with QTEs everytime you attack, because battles and dungeons are fairly quick and easy in these games
Grimstone just asks what if we put these Shadow Hearts QTEs inside Final Fantasy 1. I have the highest possible tolerance for NES dungeon crawling but am still getting super pissed regularly
Don’t get me started on how attacks only have a ~75% hit rate unless you aim for a critical
Why is one of the most ill-conceived games here also the longest by far?
I got cherry on mini & max last night and it’s such a wild game. The scale of it is really impressive for the context of the collection and I love how surreal it is. I wasn’t even actually trying to finish it I just got caught up in it.
party house is really good, if you feel like you are facing too much rng you have to think more about who you invite to the party because it is not too hard to consistently win in every scenario of party house
My approaches feel like they’re fairly sound, but I keep just barely not pulling it off. I’ll have a pretty big house and plenty of the star guest, but then right at the very end they’ll just refuse to spawn. I’ve even tried using the guys who pull in a specific guest, but then I just get unlucky and they don’t show up either. I have at least done the first scenario though.
I have a 30 win streak in Party House but it’s hard to give tips
I think the thing that really did make me start winning was to never let the cops have a chance to ruin the party, and act accordingly (pick up hippies / dogs / kickers / basketball players ASAP, and never get more trouble unless I felt extremely confident)
Also maybe you’re picking up too many people if you have trouble drawing the star players at the end
