Oh no I sort of care about this even though I really shouldn’t.

Henry Cavill cares

if i told myself in 2016 after seeing batman v superman that i’d be rooting for a henry cavill wh40k passion project in 2022 i dont think i would have believed it. The soulless ghouls of hollywood dont care about what really matters…

He quit Witcher for this shit :waynestare:

Warhammer is better than the Witcher

This is just science

it was the witcher show that quit on henry cavill by deviating from the books for worse writing despite his pleas

God, just as long as it’s not fucking Eisenhorn

(Giving it a 90% chance of being Eisenhorn tbh)

i’m not a witcher fan beyond s1 of the show but i’d run screaming from whatever process put s2 together

i feel like the media is gaslighting me about how many “unexpected twists” are in the latest season of White Lotus. i mean it’s probably just them doing their job of being glorified PR reps, but

this was the first season i watched the show, and frankly, i thought all of its plot twists were heavily telegraphed and predictable. it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the show at all, but seeing talk about how unexpected the ending was has got me feeling like either everyone is lying or i have somehow become so immersed in media and culture that all things are no predictable to me, like Neo in the Matrix but for TV writing.

It’s true it really was a lot worse. Poor Henry

40k does not seem at all amenable to the streaming TV industry, I can only imagine it with all the weirdness and satire stripped out, leaving the weird fascist husk that most nerds love

I mean the same could be said of The Witcher. I kinda think someone who seems to be a big dumb goofy nerd who loves Warhammer probably is the best case scenario for dumb shit making it to the screen.

And if it was like, a Necromunda series or something (which TBH would make sense with the needs of a TV show) you probably wouldn’t even have to goof it up too much to not be fashy. Necroumnda is basically just extremely aesthetic cyberpunk shit with enough contact with full warhammer weirdness for it to stand out.

Somehow the comic writing hack Kieron Gillen managed to thread the needle not too terribly even with space marines so…I dunno I’ll reserve judgement until it comes out in this case. It could work.

There is some hearsay happening that paints a different picture as to why Cavill is not working on Witcher anymore.

I can believe it but I’d love to hear it from literally anywhere else

yeah literally some fourth hand gossip from a podcast I’ve never heard of is weird I just wanted to add context to vodselbts post

I had read, just from some random person on twitter who works on netflix stuff I guess, the show was written and run by people who openly bragged about how stupid they thought the witcher was, which if that’s true I don’t really care how annoying the guy who actually liked the thing was to the detached netfllix content farmers

Can we talk about how the Witcher was in fact always aggressively stupid and that’s why the first season worked?

If you’re going to adapt z-list potboiler fantasy to the tv screen, it serves you well to just enjoy the vapidity instead of complaining about it. Dumb guy talks to his horse and kills monsters with swords works so much better in xena mode than in self-serious ‘let’s try to elevate this trash’ mode. Let junk food stay junk food.

adapt the Kal Jericho comic stories. tho really it should be ensemble cast of players telling stories across the imperium, no continuity, no arcs
