I’m probably the last person alive who still likes LOST. The last time I rewatched it I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Lindelof probably still sucks though

EDIT: After reading the above article, Lindelof (and Cuse) both definitely suck

I’ve never seen LOST. I was expecting something like a Gilligan’s Island reboot, but I heard it was all CONTINUITY, which I regarded as poison coming off of 24 and Joss Whedon shows. Not sure if it’s the sort of thing worth goign back to later

might start watching shogun just to admire asano’s absurd ruggedness

watching a vhs rip containing an episode of buffy and an episode of felicity, a show i haven’t seen before.
the buffy episode was faith, hope, and trick. the first appearance of faith, from early in season 3. tenchu stealth assassins was advertised a couple of times during it! not much else to say about it, really. i’ve rewatched seasons 3 and 4 so many times, it’s just comfortably familiar.

i haven’t seen felicity before, but i’ve been meaning to look into it for a long time. it’s about a student in new york in the 90s! as a kid, i imagined being a student in new york in thte 90s whenever i drank a bottle of fruitopia! it’s fine i guess. fairly average teen drama, elevated slightly by its setting, and the aesthetic that naturally accompanies it. it doesn’t really matter that it never aired here, because i wouldn’t have been even slightly interested at the time. also, amy-jo johnson from power rangers is in it.

season 3 of buffy is very black and green, and felicity is very sunset-coloured. hazy yellows and browns. i should probably have waited until autumn time or maybe late summer to watch this, but never mind~

after watching Fleischman is in Trouble and Platonic I feel like I’m just about able to begin mapping out how the millennial midlife crisis arc is going to look in media. I’m sure there are other examples of this so far too but those are the only ones I can think of. I bet Greta Gerwig will have a real banger of one sooner or later

anyway I’m being glib but this has actually been incredibly therapeutic, highly recommended for everyone who both feels deeply targeted by the constant barrage of ninja turtles and ghostbusters media but recognizes we are probably old enough to be marketed to on the basis of anxiety rather than nostalgia

I have not watched The Good Wife/The Good Fight, but spinoff show ā€œElsbethā€ is a pretty watchable and fun modern Columbo-like. Like specifically Columbo-like in that you see the murder first and watch her annoy the rich person into submission by being quirky. It does have things required of modern shows that Columbo didn’t have like ā€œa recurring castā€ and a larger background mystery but it’s not slick like Poker Face, it’s absolutely just CBS procedural comfort food. BUT it is a high level of that kind of thing. Gourmet hamburger.

I didn’t really love the first episode, but that’s encouraging—I’ll have to check out more. Carrie Preston as Elsbeth was one of the best parts of the pretty great recurring cast on The Good Wife.

sure thing tom

I don’t think RIPLEY manages to do anything that The Talented Mr. Ripley didn’t do in a quarter the runtime but it’s still better than Saltburn.

Is there anything, anything at all, that isn’t better tham saltburn

the amazon fallout show actually looks like it could be fun… walton goggins and kyle maclachlan are almost never bad, and even though I haven’t liked any of the fallout games they’ve made in the last 25 years, I’m trying not to let its version of the inherent tackiness be colored by bethesda’s
