the only time i ever watch HGTV style content is on the television on the ceiling of my dentist’s office. i feel like watching home reno shows while getting the inside of your skull scraped out with metal is basically like what watching The Curse feels like, so I don’t think I ever need to see it

severely underrates the discomforting alcoholic subplot mr safdie brings to the table but fair enough

watching a pod save america guy interview benny safdie out of character about his friendship with nathan fielder is also metatextually part of the curse imo fucking terrifying

“to me it’s not anxious”

“we have fun together”

Episode 1 was not doing it for me, all these wooden faces and dead lines, but I will keep slogging through. I can’t help but pretend I’m parker every time I step into the amazon prime tier one operator cinematic universe.

What really needs to happen is they gotta cast this big fuckin Reacher actor guy as BJ Blazkowicz in a New Colossus film adaptation

season 3 of Gemstones is kinda losing me

aside from the fact that the lead characters do not really experience and repercussions for anything, and aside from the ridiculous tonal shift which points towards “you should like these people!”, we are now focused on the militia cousins as the Big Bad and, frankly, it’s boring and kind of repetitive. i don’t like these secondary characters enough to spend hours with them

maybe it gets better further in

yeah i fell off third season too. the seasons before that at least escalate in unexpected ways, but there’s not really anywhere left to go now.

I mainly enjoy it for autistic superhero Jack Reacher. as much as I love the cruiser and mcquarrie his version is just a standard tom cruise know-it-all character and the best version of that character was in edge of tomorrow.

The actor’s really good, but the character’s Thing is less interesting when everyone else talks basically the same way and you realize it isn’t being deliberately written as his character Thing so much as this is just the only way the writers know how to write

Truly one of the largest lads Hollywood has produced recently, he’s like distractingly big

This is why I didn’t like that show but I’ll watch slop like mile 22

OK so episode 2 prominently features diegetic Possum Kingdom so that gets +1 millennial points

Oh man with all the focus on bananas I totally forgot about the incredibly stupid meta Sarah Connor / T-1000 joke based on Robert Patrick being in the show. That’s +1 points too

X-Files does one of these too, i think it’s in Patrick’s contract

Since HBO Max seems hellbent on cutting everything it can, and I haven’t had cable in years, I decided that I needed to cram in an Adult Swim show I’d never seen before it vanished into the ether, and marathoned Three Busy Debras. What a show…

is anyone still keeping up with this… the last episode drops friday at midnight and i have no idea what to expect, i am loving the ride tho even tho not a lot actually happens i really feel like there is going to be a crazy twist or two

specifically im really excited to see if anything becomes of the implication that everyone is being surveilled by one or more hidden parties (i dont think this is really a spoiler to say bc it’s just a vibe and not anything textual) or the 4th wall break meta stuff (nathan fielder looking directly at the camera at multiple points and maybe just the general nature of his other shows)

i would believe those were maybe decisions made for thematic and stylistic reasons, but also could see them becoming more bc theyre so creepy… episode 9 has a scene where an actor seems to lose one of her extensions and it’s so unsettling and creepy and it’s impossible to tell if its that her extension fell out and they just kept going with the take or its foreshadowing something extremely sinister. kind of magical i think idk im really enjoying it.

wonder if nathan fielder or benny safdie have seen end of evangelion lol
