True Profit's Kiss (gta 6)

my time is better spent on literally anything but AAA sequels lately. still have never missed a single cultural touchstone of social life by skipping out on rockstar games from the past decade. and gained hundreds of hours of life to spend as I please. to save time is to lengthen life

I’ll still read the posts about it

Probably half of the celebrities they’ll make fun of in the side missions will have died by the time it comes out.

Ironically a lot of the buildings they scouted for the game and that are appearing in the trailers and the leaks aren’t there anymore irl, mainly due to Hurricane Michael. Everything will be dated, reference-wise, and I suspect the story will be played straight and by the numbers. Stuff from the leaks suggest some pretty interesting things mechanics-wise but there is no indication yet how much of that has actually been implemented or cut.

I like GTA V’s story on paper but in practice it’s not as entertaining as the PS2 era games. Everything takes too long to set up and play out and none of the characters are very likeable, though Trevor amusingly has more of a moral backbone than Michael. The relationship aspects are interesting, like the history between Michael and Trevor, Michael and Franklin, and Michael and his family (hmmm maybe Michael was the main character all along) but I just found myself wishing the game were exclusively about Franklin and Lamar instead. Slink Johnson wasn’t afraid to go off script with Lamar and it made every scene with him way more real and natural and fun. When I call someone up to hang out Lamar is usually the first choice.

But whatever happened to characters like Avery Johnson and Donald Love (who was based on a Trump) and lines like “Now listen, nothing drives up real estate prices faster than a good old fashioned gang war.” It was satisfying killing an asshole billionaire in GTA V and then playing the stock market and making yourself one. The journey getting there was fraught with tiring screaming matches and family therapy. At this point the safe bet is to just do Bonnie and Clyde with Lucia and Jason but then they showed off that Raul Batista. Make that guy the third character.

I’ve basically gotten most Rockstar games day 1, for whatever reason (well tons of money is probably the reason) I find their worlds much more interesting places to wander around than most other open world games. Given that they now seem to be the only company capable of making these and they make them like once a decade I’ll probably keep playing them until there is an utterly dramatic falloff.

That’s probably not the cool answer to give >_>

I’ll play it because I’m still chasing the high I got from GTA 3 25 years ago. As crummy as the shooting is or how uneven the writing or how the driving went from awesome in IV to mid in V they still nail a vibe with the settings and animations in a way most games can’t. GTA IV doesn’t recreate New York it recreates the feeling of New York. Like with V and Southern California. VI is exciting because you’ll be able to zip down the Florida Keys in a jet ski like in that YouTube video.

Do you think there’ll be some kind of Mar a Lago analog in the game?

Everyone’s going to notice if there isn’t.

After seeing GTAO’s rollout of new cars I can only imagine the reason they have boat physics for the launch game is so they can roll out perfect handling cars for $40 on the 9 month update.
