A while ago someone in my moped club suggest I make “Super Hung Over” which would be a romhack of Super Hang On, but with mopeds. and the idea has rolled around in my head for a while. I think a sprite swapped Super Hang On is very doable but I have no idea what tools to use or what version I would make, or where to start. Is there a program where I could simply edit the graphics files of a rom? I looked into this a while ago and I felt very out of my element and unable to really find any useful info.

Ideally, I would do a romhack of the arcade version, and find an old arcade cab with the bike, and slap a moped frame onto it because that’s cool as hell

the primordial era of nes romhacks was facilitated by early nes emulators having the ability to dump, edit, and re-insert graphics. but i don’t know if there’s anything that allows that for mega drive or sega outrun hardware (though to be fair, i’ve never looked for one, either)


in other news, there’s a hack out for gokujou parodius on snes that not only translates the text, but adds in sram saving for high scores! what a cool and helpful feature~
