a friend is bilingual and a baroque superfan and confirmed it, the script is the same. in fact, the game is nearly identical structurally, down to the individual placement of npcs. it’s a remarkably faithful remake in those regards, but the original’s visuals, soundtrack, rhythm and atmosphere are extremely particular and special and it deserves to be broadly playable in eng in its original form, because it’s a masterpiece.
All the Shirens
Linda Cubed
Segagaga
London Seirei Tanteidan
Mark of the Mermaid
Samurai Showdown RPG
Yakuza Kenzan and Isshin
All of the "“My Summer Vacation” games
it’s a complete travesty that these haven’t been translated yet
G.O.D. has been on my list but I’m still a little burned from not bailing on Metal Max early enough; like creep noted, it’s from that era when ‘cheap JRPG’ meant ‘grindy JRPG’.
I bought the PS3 My Summer Vacation but the text auto-advances and there’s just no way
put me down for despiria, too
legend of xanadu 1 + 2, if they manage to finish the dubbing…
wachenröder
sol moonarge
terra phantastica
neo metal fantasy
but seriously… legend of xanadu T_T
The Famicom adaptation of A Taxing Woman
I don’t know if it’s good and I don’t care. It looks cool.
the Taikou Risshiden series
Kowloon’s Gate
Planet Laika
seconding shirens, linda cubed, segagaga, my summer vacation series
The Saturn version of chaos seed, & not translated by D-D this time.
oh good call, all the games ‘translated’ by D-D should be counted as untranslated just so that we can pine after a version without wildbill’s obvious bigotry
so much of the work is in the hacking though… revisited translation for badly treated scripts should definitely be pursued, at least where patch source/tools exist
speaking of bigots, “mrrichard999” has recently been quite prolific with obscure stuff i’ve long wanted, and while i was willing to look past a lot of roughshod hacking problems his releases often have i get worried that him being an insufferable maga chud has inevitably infected the work
feeling similarly apprehensive about the chud working on smt 9 at the moment…
Well today is your lucky day!
(out now)
Just what you wanted, right?
Also somebody out there is actually translating WonderSwan games

i’m amazed that as late as the wii, there were still pokemon games without official translations
I was interested in the GBA Torneko games just because they were non-Pokemon shiren games on the GBA and was kind of hoping they fell into that category of JP games with “kids mode” kana only options so I could try to read them, but was quickly proven wrong by youtubing.
there’s actually been a whilwind of interest recirculating as the community has gathered around the hype created by the Shiren 2 N64 pre-release patch. the tools used for that PMD translation are useful for more recent Shiren titles, and they’ve announced they’re releasing their tools in a week or so

Add to my wishlist waku waku puyo puyo dungeon.
Metroid Fusion with Sequence Breaking
Adds single-wall jumping and infinite bomb jumping, and makes it so the game doesn’t spitefully barf when you do stuff early. Features zero level design changes.
So far, I’ve been able to get the Power Bombs, Plasma Beam, Space Jump, and Wide Beam early. Granted, a couple of those entailed some really rough early boss fights, but I did 'em anyway.
I just got the Ice Missiles when intended, and when I returned to the nav room Adam said “You’ve restored Plasma Beam functionality? …most unexpected.”
And then he told me to go head to the ARC nav room (which I was already in) because of Nightmare.
Game owns.
