I’ve been thinking about a new build next year for Ryzen 4000 and Ampere. Given how much CPUs and GPUs are trending hotter, and that the biggest issue with my current build is fan noise (a Fractal Node 202, the size of a steroidal Xbox One X) I’ve been looking into mixing liquid cooling with a portable form factor.
Why are all-in-one liquid cooling solutions so CPU-focused? GPU runs hotter and louder. I’d want to cover both GPU and CPU in any solution
it’s hard to find people putting a liquid-cooling bracket on a GPU in the Dan, there must be something I’m missing. My GPU cools itself just like it would in the Dan, scooping its own air directly from outside, it’s just a bit noisy. If I had a radiator I don’t see why I wouldn’t try to cover both?
Poking around today, seems like a Dan doesn’t have the clearance to fit a liquid block on a GPU (surprising, I thought they were about the same width once the shroud was slipped off), but even if that hurdle is cleared, you’re limited to a 90mm radiator, so probably unwise to run both CPU and GPU on that little block.
Louqe Ghost is probably a sensible build, it’s one I can actually find examples of people doing full AIO builds. I’d hate to be forced into a deicision right now when I’d just be sitting on it for 9+ months…
every SFF case spends long stretches of being out of stock because they make small batches because they’re expensive because they’re boutique products
unless if you go on Aliexpress or a buying agent through taobao, then you have a wide array of Chinese SFF cases on tap with long shipping times and prices
The liquid block is thinner than your standard 2 slot GPU but it’s the fittings and tubing that requires as much or more clearance than the fan shroud, even if using 90 degree elbow fittings.
I just did a 240mm rad full custom loop in an NCase M1 recently. I can answer any questions or do a general writeup if anyones interested.
I watched the Hardware Canucks review (timestamped to discussion of cooling/airflow) of this case and the temps are pretty bad unless you like pinning stuff to the max like @Felix in his silverstones or remove the top plate.
The NZXT H1 bov posted above has much better cooling but the glass panel is probably not great for your purposes.
65c for both GPU/CPU at load. Versus 20c cooler under the same test in the H1. What’s weird is it’s avoidable - the bottom just can’t breathe - but the double liquid setup should take care of it, yeah.
(I forget that y’all don’t worry about ambient temperatures fucking up your computer temps so maybe this is fine by PNW/Canada standards.)
Yeah then unfortunately you are going to be limited to an AIO for the CPU and air cooling for the GPU, there just isn’t enough space in the case for a 240mm radiator or even a 140mm radiator and tubing. That case is extremely tightly engineered.
ETA I love the dancase and after doing a full loop in an ncase I will definitely be buying one of these under 10l cases for my next build in 5 years or whenever it is
Learned today that apparently some VOIP apps only support certain headset manufacturer’s on-headset answer/cancel buttons lmao
I had just thought surely there’s something in-between using my actual cell phone and bluetooth or gaming headset and frantically tabbing over to the window but no.
