it’s a legit recation to “i just saw/heard/read some shit that I have no idea how to process”.

my favorite scene in southland tales is easily the domestic disturbance they stage to get Racist Cop (Jon Lovitz) to commit a hate crime on film but the directors cut is so dense that it’s hard for me to even definitively say that. I fucking hated donnie darko btw but 9/11 annihilated Richard Kelly’s brain in the best way

I still have to watch the director’s cut, but yeah, that scene going into basically the perfect Pixies song for that moment is great.

3 minute scene of seann william scott staring at a clone of himself while a moby song plays

or the part where he is watching himself in a mirror with like a half second time delay.

i’ve never seen southland tales is that the one that takes place in old time new york and everybody beats the shit out of each other

you are thinking of gangs of new york which sucks

i hope the sequel is south town tales featuring terry bogard and billy kane.

I watched Southland Tales exactly once, after eagerly as shit awaiting the dvd release (couldn’t find any showing relatively near, pretty limited release iirc). Ex of the era and I bonded over Darko-Kelly saturation/annoyance. So I kinda combed every bit of production news and even bought the mini graphic novel prequel things. Don’t know where the third went!

All I can say now is we didn’t know what to make of it at probably a strained witching hour watch, this is the only place in a decade I’ve seen it mentioned and favorably/recent at that. Guess I’ll box out the digital versatile disc.

I could never get into Southland Tales but The Box owns

The squibs going off after the shots tipped me off to… how the movie works on my first viewing.

I should probably watch Southland Tales again when I’m not busy hooking up with someone
