i’ve never thought of the ps4 as being loud. i rarely need to turn my tv high than 4% volume with it on. the ps3, though, that’s 9% at a minimum. it’s technically a bc model, but i don’t use it for ps2 games beause it’s as loud as a vacuum cleaner if i try
Oh you’re right, that was the Pro model that got the quieter fan, the normal model revision only uses less power.
I think some PS4s are just louder than others
how old is your PS4?
I have a launch system and even as early on as Diablo 3, my console could hit hairblower noise
it’s great because you would never know what game could trip it. Genshin hit it hard, which of course, it’s an open world game running in Unity, but so did Project Diva Future Tone
it’s a standard model, bought september 2016
i think the only game i’ve ever seen it struggle with was doom 2016, and that only manifested as it taking several seconds to bring up the capture menu when i wanted to take a screenshot
I think I got my PS4 near launch, although my first note about it is 2016, so I can’t be sure. Mine never struck me as particularly loud. I think my OG PS2 sitting on top of it is louder, and that’s not particularly loud either.
Edit: Oh, if it’s game-specific, I haven’t played any of those games mentioned on it.
go ahead, download Genshin to your PS4 and play it for 15 minutes
poor thing struggles
and they still say it’s coming to the Switch!
i am compelled to strongly recommend against this
a little gambling never hurt anyone
also I guess by this point in its lifespan that it’s starting to eclipse Warzone in file size
Warzone: Flashdrive
Compared to the 360 and my laptop I think the PS4 is pretty quiet. Actually the only thing that ever bothered me was a capacitor whine from the power adapter when it was on standby
I have a Destiny PS4. It only got loud when games would idle, like in a menu or something. Otherwise it was fine.
I still have mine for Bloodborne and Densha De Go. I’m not actively playing them but I want to have them around. Hopefully I can play those on my computer someday. I am very glad all those fighting games got ports. Paying for PS+ sucked shit, consoles just suck shit in general really, everything costs so much now.
I guess the ShotTriggers releases were also good but they were expensive, hard to justify $40+ on games I may want to play someday but not right now, wow I have changed as a person, wow.
final fantasy xiv and overwatch and destiny 1 and 2 all made my ps4 sound like a fucking JET ENGINE like it would be screaming in pain during destiny raids
the ps4 got me out of the dark ages of gaming I guess. like all the games I played were super old or free indie shit or whatever. i learned all the gamer terms for first person shooters and mmos during the ps4’s lifespan. I know what dots and blueberries mean, I know fundamentals of the shootmans now, like I went back after destiny 2 and played all the halo games and got decent at them whereas before I’d just feel lost and frustrated
I don’t know if that’s a good thing but it’s definitely a thing
i definitely liked the shape of the ps4, just a big fucking slab
but there was never a reason to own one
Second person.
Mostly these days I take my PS4 out of sleep mode once a week to see what new stuff came out in the PSN store; after wading through the pools of shovelware that sure weren’t a thing when the system first came out, if anything new looks interesting I look it up on Steam. So yeah aside from Arcade Archives it’s basically a consolidated Steam New Releases site for me now.
I do want daioujou shottrigger, fuck. japan just put your shit on PC
The fuck
destiny thing
Ew
impossibly stupid and cumbersome jargon, i hate it
