to be honest, we could just schedule nginx to reload its config every day, hour, or 5 minutes. it’s zero-downtime & should pick up new certs
i don’t know that sounds like busy-waiting to me and i was taught to respect synchronization primitives
nginx devs are smarter than us in every way, except for explaining how it works
nginx -s reload after a cert rotates should get new workers to start using the new cert
I’ll set up a testbed later this week
i went ahead and did this, it does a service nginx restart every time the cert file changes
root@selectbutton:~# service certroomba status

it is definitely overengineered in practical terms but it saves a completely trivial number of cpu cycles
i just changed it to nginx -s reload per your last post
it will be tested in production Thu, 08 Oct 2026 06:22:45 GMT
edit: i went back and enabled the service which you can only do with systemctl rather than service
idk why, maybe the problem will go away when it reboots
I’ve never quite figured out what to do about this. When I start typing out a big post on my phone, the thread behind the post box starts scrolling upward, causing the page to reload and freeze and make copy/pasting impossible without minimizing/opening/other trickery to eventually get the prompt on my iphone 13. I know I seem to be alone in this wave of problems which are probably all Apple fucking me for refusing to upgrade.
Sure would like to just be able to read/write my favorite internet website!
Me too
great news, now that i’m unemployed i have time to work on open source contributions
and filter out some of these damn bots
I swear this has gotten monumentally worse in the last week. I’m minimizing the text box and scrolling the thread to the first post just to preempt the fuckery. Ironically it is not happening with this post and I have a full box to type the post. How nice!
Just going into the phone store crying, give me the new phone so I can look at the text website.
i’ll look into this for a bit today. honestly i’m surprised there’s not a barebones brutalist discourse client with zero system requirements out there already
does the official discourse client support your version of ios?
it really needs a version with less webshit
ok it definitely needs a version with less webshit in it
why the fuck is the basic html view read-only? were forms invented in 2019 or something? they don’t trust anyone to write fucking markdown?
Discourse Hub for iOS has uh…7 reviews and most of them are from 5 years ago. So probably not a well supported form of software.
ah yeah the version i have was updated 2 months ago so it sounds like they dropped support for your version of ios 5 years ago
it’s a pretty thin wrapper around a webview so it doesn’t need to update that often
however it’s quite well supported and the main way that interact with sb
the twisted emoji was disgusting and low quality so @VastleCania fixed it and i reuploaded it
