I immediately went to the youtubes to watch some destruction derby gameplay after my post and my fuckin eyes could feel the controls. to a game I haven’t played in over 20 years. that’s about the best thing I can say about a video game
also all cars have exactly the same specs but widely varying looks the future is symmetrical
NextCarGame is pretty good. Its from the makers of Flatout. *oh i guess its called Wreckfest, now. Must have been in pre-release at some point. Like 3 years old now. **Nope, not fully released yet. Fairly soon, though.
Did you know Chrysler Imperials, the green hornets car, are usually banned from demolition derbys for being indestructible tanks
Tangledeep is out of Early Access on Steam and now GOG, and apparently coming to Switch sometime this year.
Has anyone here played it?
It’s a cute-looking roguelike with a few neat things, like being able to change your character job multiple times, capturing and raising monsters, item worlds, and so forth…
The graphics are really lush. Kind of disturbingly so. They are explicitly imitating high-production JRPGs from the 90s but I think they fell in the equivalent uncanny valley right before hitting the mark.
So that’s I’ll survive
When the Earth is Scorched
“There’s a link detailing how Billy Mitchell used MAME to fake his Donkey Kong Million+ high scores and will soon be stripped of his records in case anyone is interested.”
This could be the first tactical game that I absolutely have to play.
I’m almost forgot about this super improtant videogames new from the college bookstore, at which I am employed:
send me a case
Don’t pay for them though
Apparently in order to get the Special Dissidia DLC Bonus, you need to send someone a photo of your receipt showing that you purchased the Cup Noodles yourself. I feel sick.
I signed up for the pre-alpha and have officially been put on the list. But, I guess I’m still waiting for further details. If I actually get the alpha to play, I will make a thread!
I know we had a whole thread about the term Metroidvania, but the part of it I dislike the most is that the appellation “Metroid” is in there and it doesn’t even fold neatly into a cool portmanteau by pivoting on a letter. It’s just Metroid plus the pseudo-suffix “vania.” Like, Metrovania or, uh, Castleroid (uhhh) would sit better with me.
i like metroidvania, primarily because “metroid” can’t be shortened and still be meaningful. Calling it a metrovania sounds like a castlevania game set in a city.
I would hella play a metropolivania
