I don’t see what taking the time to form or express these kinds of opinions on other countries actually accomplishes while sitting here nice and comfortable and productively contributing to the futhering of the american horrorshow, for which most peoples greatest hopes for the future are fascism lite but with health care and a livable wage. it’s a videogame, it’s not like they’re trying to overthrow venezuela.

I think it’s pretty reasonable to worry that a lot of countries with much nastier, illiberal governments are going to rush to fill the void of american influence. One bad thing collapsing doesn’t necessitate a better outcome on the other side

The Chinese government is not the Chinese country. The Chinese government is not all Chinese people. Conflating the two is erasure in the service of fascism. I live with Chinese people who can’t go back “home” because it’s not safe.
