The News Grandmaster 4000

Ah geez digital only is a bummer (I’m a stubborn enough asshole that I’d almost rather just import it, but it’s still a cool $80+ in Japan). Still nice that we’re getting both games, I guess.

I don’t know if anything was posted about it here but it seems that the first porn game is here on Steam. It’s called Negligee and supposedly contains hentai scenes that are 18+. I have yet to check it out. It seems it’s not going to be taken down under the new Steam rules. It’s not available in all countries. Germany for example because of something to do with how Steam checks your age. But it is available in Austria. You have to actively look for it because porn games are not going to be advertised alongside other games. I don’t know how exactly that works. If you have to go into settings to allow sexual content or what, maybe it’s just its own tag…?

This is huge news for the industry and me personally because I’m making an adult game. I’ll be on Steam soon, y’all!

Still feel like they’re a few articles of bad publicity away from shutting it all down again for like, what, the third time now? Going to take a while to build up that trust with developers but the potential winnings from being one of the first “good ones” is probably enticing enough.

That could very well be the case! I kind of can’t wrap my head around this. Like, porn movies is a huge part of movie business. Just imagine porn games becoming the same in the videogame industry, which is even bigger than film. Imagine the profits there if we can get something even close to AAA production quality going. Now of course porn games don’t profit from all the fanciness that’s found in regular AAA games but imagine the same energy being poured into the act of, well, sex. There’s absolutely no one doing this in a big, corporate style. The only questions are, who is going to be the first and when

If this stays the way it is right now on Steam then everything is going to move from Patreon to Steam. This could blow up over night. It’s crazy. That’s why I feel I must be missing something here…

But yeah, maybe they have to close it all down again in a month, who knows. But they’d miss out on a billion dollar business, if they’d just have the guts to develop it a bit

At tgs my buddy tried a haptic feedback vest in VR and the demo was a three foot tall (one meter) anime girl touched him with a hitachi wand as he yelled to be removed from the experience.

Futuristic nightmares inbound!

hmmm point 2 in the steamworks/steam direct rules about what not to publish is “Pornography”, so I’m still confused. I’ll probably ignore that and see what happens. I looked at Negligee and they made it so that the adult content is DLC. Very strange. I’ll keep on this.

I found a check mark box in the steam search preferences that was about the Adult Only, Sexual Content tagged games showing up in search results. I ticked it and clicked on example games and it listed a few. Nothing I recognized besides Negligee but they all seem to be some form of hentai. Puzzle games with scantily clad anime girls and visual novels.

A third set of changes focused on allowing you to have better control over the kinds of mature content you see. So far, the Store has allowed you to filter out games that feature Frequent Violence/Gore or Nudity/Sexual Content. After looking at the mature content in submissions we’re receiving, and at some games that are already in the Store, we’ve added two more options. The first is a general Mature Content filter. We often see developers who tell us their game contains mature content, but not sex or violence, and you can now filter those games out if you wish. The second is an Adults Only filter, which allows you to filter out games that feature explicit sexual content.

We’re also now requiring developers of games with violent or sexual content to describe the content of their game, and we’re using that information to help you decide whether a game is something you’re comfortable with. We think the context of how content is presented is important and giving a developer a place to describe and explain what’s in their game gives you even more information when browsing and considering a purchase. When you’re looking at the store page of a game with mature content, we’ll display that developer-written description to you.

I guess I now need to figure out the difference between Explicit Sexual Content and Pornography because the former is okay and the latter isn’t… Guess I’ll add more story bits to break up the porn???

edf5: finally!
digital only: at least we get it!
weird vid: this feels like IA happens all over again, please don’t do this…

I am massively impressed by whatever filter is on this to make it look not too good and not too bad.

It looks like they’re upscaling it and rendering it at 1080p…?

Hmmmm

This… is the liberty we’ve won for ourselves.

All the footage in that trailer is cropped/zoomed tho.

Some CV Requiem details:

…4K/1080p upscaling, multiple high resolution backgrounds, different rendering options such as smoothing and full Trophy support." Requiem will also utilize the DualShock 4’s analogue stick for movement and the speaker to play sounds when you pick up an item.

…as it stands, there are no plans to bring Requiem to other platforms–[Requiem] is a PS4 exclusive."

Sounds pretty alright to me, 'cept for smoothing probably more like…stooging yeah

Also tied to releasing same day as Season 2 of the Netflix anime.

It’s the PC Engine version too. So nice to see Konami do something right again.
