I always thought that was one of the coolest things about this game, and often wondered why other games didnât have that sort of feature
I almost posted this in the cartoons thread, because I saw it out of the corner of my eye on Adult Swim that I had on as background noise, and my split-second thought was âwow, a new show, and it looks neat!â
and I wanted to inflict that on others
grrrr. oh well. slightly longer trailer with gameplay here. seems that itâs coming to PS4 (already out on Switch and PC)
It looks exactly like more Spelunky which is weird after playing hundreds of hours of Spelunky but also I am so into it.
Hmmm a game where you can summon cats and the spectre of death is around every corner
Sign Ven up!
between this and planetoid pioneers and noita it seems like âballs to the wall fully-simulated-everything physics rogueliteâ is gonna be THE genre of 2018-9
donât know if itâs because my eyes are conditioned by having played a lot of spelunky, thereâs something in the visuals of this new one that seem strange. like the environmental textures (in the physical sense) are made of something different.
iâm excited, though!
Mark my words - fully simulated everything physics are going to be really incredibly boring. Hopefully game design will make up for how boring that shit is.
I think it does necessitate very good and fun design to go with it â there were lots of boring physics indie games early on in the late aughts, but I love planetoid pioneers to death and I keep trying to get people to play it
itâs a roguelike so youâre going to be disappointed on that front
It looks like theyâre going for a more visually legible thing but itâs also a little cuter(?) than Iâd prefer. No big though, weâll see.
First-print copies of Langrisser I & II will include a download code for âClassic Mode,â which lets users play each game with its original illustrations and background music. A newly added heroine character will also have artwork drawn by original artist Satoshi Urushihara for use in Classic Mode.
which server are you on, I just joined
canât believe you guys are going to make me play this again
Tingler game is apparently out of money and limping to the finish line per kickstarter update just now but Zoe is cool so Iâm happy to wait
In other news this is probably only another couple months out:
Which is nice because the list of stuff Iâm still looking forward to this year is rather short; other than âmaybe Polybius will make it to PCâ I think thereâs just Pathologic and Outer Wilds and KRZ 5 and Noita, and any of those could slip into next year.
also a heads up to anyone who couldnât play it on Windows that original sin 2 is out on consoles today, itâs weirder and not as immediately revelatory as the first but just as fantastic
they also apparently redid most of the last act because it was too much of a âquest flags barely hanging togetherâ situation even for them
one rec I will make if youâre playing it for the first time is that you should probably pick ifan ben-mezd as your main character, it sucks to have to be that prescriptive in a game thatâs so open ended but itâs way too easy to lose the thread of the main quest at times without his personal quest which is the only one that actually weaves in and out of it a narratively consistent way (the game is still great otherwise, it just makes some plot beats more flat/confusing/extraneous), and there are a couple of mid-game areas that are non-hostile if you have him, without which those combats can seem padded.
