Not to mention the way you beat piracy is with better service and access to the same library, like Steam and GOG have succesfully done, not C&D’ing ROM websites. But Nintendo can’t into the former.

I am ridiculously pumped for this game, it makes sense as I’ve been dying for someone to make a genuinely playable and interesting ROTK game for as long as I’ve wanted to get back into Total War, but I still love everything I see

Some sort of tipping point has happened in retro game this year. There are Three Video Game stores closing this week and at least one arcade this month. This is after at least two different and major game stores closed earlier this year. This is purely Kanto not counting other parts of Japan.
Perhaps at least in the case of the game stores they’ve decided that brick and mortar doesn’t make financial sense anymore?

I dunno what Japan’s property climate is like. But in the US, unrealistically rising rents for retail spaces are driving out a lot of businesses.
