honestly considering this

people never bring up robbing a gamestop when they talk about victimless crimes but imo it’s a very victimless crime

The victim is, unfortunately, you

This forum used to be full of gamestop employees, can’t one of these things fall off a truck

Having played a bit of it it’s not particularly special so far (apart from aforementioned accessibility options being pretty comprehensive). I’m somewhat obligated to play it for work as I will likely be reading dozens of Last of Us 2 essays evangelising it as the deepest shit.

TW: physical and sexual violence

On Gamestop

My connection with Gamestop robberies is the two separate times the lone girl employee in San Antonio was raped and murdered.

This game sounds horrible and trying yo convince a friend to not play it.

There’s something about speeding through glossy environments that took years to build. They may as well be meticulously rendering burning piles of money bracketed by giant olive branches while sentient ‘for your consideration’ billboards roam the plains.

even the first Uncharted gives me this constant, low-level feeling of stress when i play it because of this. both the transience of the environments and the lack of substantial ways to interact with it; i can’t understand how anyone finds it a pleasurable experience coasting through a virtual travel catalogue without the means to take any of it in

then again i suppose assembling charmless graphical showcases has always sort of been naughty dog’s MO

What would you not do for love? For acceptance? When would you give-up? For Kane & Lynch, there is no limit. When there are no options, when the situation is broken beyond repair, they’ll never give-up.

He was literally kidnapped as a child and indoctrinated with psychological conditioning to be unceasingly loyal to a colonial government that had a massive military and special operations force dedicated to fighting labor on it’s colony worlds.

It’s not really a focus but they even mention it in reach.

The only reason the colonial marines seem like good guys is because they’re facing an existential threat. It’s very warhammer in that way.

that’s very true, but also the Covenant are objectively the bad guys no matter which way you wanna cut it lmao. Master Chief and The Arbiter teaming up is actually revolutionary violence against the fascist theocracy set up by the Prophets. The whole article is fucking stupid in the most amazing way. What a birthday treat!!

The discourse around this game has had me thinking a lot about Volition’s Punisher game, wherein right before you put some goon to the sword, they’ll howl “I have a family!” and a bored Frank retorts with “Everyone does…” and then immediately feeds their face to piranhas or whatever.

I told myself over and over that I wasn’t going to play this, at least not anytime soon. My income is limited! I have several extant bills to pour my meager disability checks into! I don’t want to give Sony/Naughty Dog money for this garbage! I should focus on playing/watching/reading things I might actually like, instead of following my terrible instinct to stick my entire head into vats of cultural poison so as to read with precision the corrosive patterns left on my whole eyeballs, face, etc.

Then I went by a certain Big Box Store after the pharmacy to get some cat food and on the way to the pet section there was an open box set on a low end-cap case that may have been left by an employee for a moment mid-stock? Maybe? Maybe there were some copies of a game sitting there.

F-B-I if you’re reading this I would never commit a property crime. Especially one against the esteemed Walton family, who have given this great nation + the world so very much.

F.B.I. if I am staring at this shrink-wrapped case wondering if and when I will subject myself to its crimes I definitely paid for it. Being a white male-presenting late-thirties individual in much of the United States is definitely not a license to just put things in your pockets and walk out of stores unquestioned no matter what kind of chirp comes out of the anti-theft obelisks.

Ef Bee Eye if this is a game i see before me then my punishment is already nigh.
