  • Added “Handheld Mode Boost” to Nintendo Switch Software Handling in System.

    • Handheld Mode Boost will cause compatible Switch software to run as if in TV Mode, so certain functionality may be affected. Please see the on-device description for more details.

This info is probably available elsewhere but I would appreciate an SButt telling me, especially if there are caveats: Will my OG Switch Pro Controller work with this new machine or are there weird compatibility issues etc

Yes, it will work.

The only issue you’ll run into is that the Switch 1 Pro Controller does not wake the Switch 2 from sleep.

I had a friend use his with Mario Kart awhile back and it had no issues (same with 1st gen joy cons). You won’t be able to use the mouse feature, but that’s a rare case anyways.

Is the main value proposition for Switch 2 like the PS5 where you can play last gen’s games with better loading and frame rates or…

I’m mostly trying to convince myself to buy a switch 2 but also idk if there’s even switch 1 games I want to play

I wonder how long Nintendo will be able to avoid raising the price. PS5 has had two price increases which is just incredible. Nintendo seem like the kind of company that will avoid that for as long as possible but you know in this environment they can’t hold out forever.

I heard they might reveal a new 3D Mario this year. That’s kind of the main reason I buy a Nintendo console anymore, is the stuff like new Mario and Zelda. I think the value proposition for the Switch 2 is that it’s something the Nintendo faithful want.

Nintendo seemingly had a massive news leak recently and if it is as legit as it seems then there won’t be a new 3d Mario until next year barring a delay of some sort.
